22-ounce brown glass bottle poured into a tulip glass. Served at a beginning temperature of approximately 40 degrees F.

Pours a deep golden copper hue and wonderfully clear. The fat, frothy topping of off-white foam falls away to a lingering crown, leaving behind thick rings of lacy cling on the walls of the glass.

The nose reveals a bouquet rife with juicy tropical and citrus notes -- tangerine, apricot, mango, papaya. Juicy citrus mingles alongside notes of candied fruit, somewhat sweet, vivid and enticing.

On the palate, things largely mimic the nose, with sweet, juicy citrus and tropical fruit combining up front with a big, honey-like malt sweetness that intermingle to give an impression of, again, candied fruit. A clean, citrus rind-like bitterness shows itself in the rear of the mid-palate, balancing out what would otherwise be a cloying, sweet fruit disaster. The honeyish malt notes combine with the bitterness all the way into the finish, with a lingering impression of orange blossom honey-infused grapefruit, which sounds odd but is rather pleasant and beckons another quaff.

Mouthfeel is somewhat slick, with a rather mild carbonation that leads to a rather heavy body.

Overall, a very pleasant entry into the Dank Tank series, but somewhat disappointing when expecting more of a mix of 420 Extra Pale Ale and the brewery's magnificent IPA. A bit of a disappointment after the previous magnificently hoppy beauty in the series, Fresh Sticky Nugs, but still a solid beer nonetheless that leaves lots of hope for the next immediate one-off -- the brewery's 15th Anniversary release.

A - Pours a nice hazy copper orange red color.
Big creamy yet soapy almost one head fades slowly with nice lacing.

S - Aromas of sweet caramel malts and some faint alcohol Theres some light sweet citrus (orange) hop notes towards the end.

T - Taste is WAY too sweet for my liking with a ton of caramel malts and some warming booze. More of those light citrus orange notes with a slight bitter finish.

M - Eh, decent carbonation with more of the alcohol presence.

O - Overall meh. Way too sweet and malty, very little hop character. I appreciate JLindros sharing this though.

Big creamy 1.5finger head fades slowly with nice lacing, hazy copper orange red color.

Nose sweet reddish malts, toasty with caramel and light toffee, juicy malt with hint of booze, light candy orange hops and light earthy and fruity.

Taste sweet! Creamy caramel malts, light toffee, toasty reddish malts, some warming booze. Earthy candied orange hops, mild bitterness. Finish is drier but still sweet and malty, long earthy bitterness and light candied orange and hint chewy hops. The only real hop character is the spicy hop bitterness that lingers for quite a while after the finish.

Mouth is a bit fuller bodied, decent carb, some warming booze.

Overall meh. Way too sweet and malty, very little hop character. It's even hard to drink more than 1/2 a glass, so I'm glad I shared this with a few friends.

22oz brown bomber with no freshness date.

LOOK: Hazed orange amber, stellar amount of stickage of head

SMELL: Orange zest, floral, green peppercorn, blood oranges, mango, pineapple, shortbread

TASTE: Smooth, creamy, orange rind, peppery, bitter, exotic fruit, leafy, estery, herbal, warming, toasted crackers, yeast, oily citrus, hoppy semi-dry finish

I get the premise, super hoppy and dank ... reference to 420 is laughable. Yeah, the hop plant has a cousin but there is a big difference from the hop to its cousin. As for the beer, it is without a doubt a massive IPA (pretty much a DIPA). The hops don't hold back and is somewhat drinkable being it does not hold on to much balance. Hopheads should give this a try.

I managed to procure a bottle or two of this quick moving installment in the Dank Tank series, and have not seen it much since. It happens to sound like a cross between two of the breweries most popular beers, and I like the IPA a lot. I am sharing this bomber with my girlfriend.

Poured from a 22 oz. bomber to two SweetWater 15 Years snifters. Served at 42º Fahrenheit.

(Appearance) Pours a creamy white frothy head with average retention on a deep orange-red body loaded with carbonation. Appearance is pleasing. 4

(Smell) Aroma consists of a resiny citrus hop aroma on a mild malt base. The resiny aromatics are really prevalent and hit the nose the most, followed by some faded grapefruit and tangerine, indicative of mostly tart citrus notes. Hop aroma is striking and a bit sharp, followed by a mild boozy aroma. There isn't much of a malt aroma presence to back it up, so the balance is a bit wacky and the citrus hops certainly take the front. Theres a ton of hop presence but its not a pleasing aroma and some may find it offensive in its tart characteristics. Other milder hop characteristics are grassy and piney variants, but not nearly as prevalent. Potency is medium. 3

(Taste) Tastes are interesting. Hop presence is much milder in the taste than the nose would suggest. There's a significant "soapy" film-like character and taste to the hop presence and malt character in this beer. Overall its rather plain in its delivery with little standing out aside from the small but interesting flavors that peek in from time to time; a piney and tangerine candy comes through late in the finish, but overall the resiny flavors are most dominant. Sweetness is higher than average primarily due to a heavier body, blending the line between APAs and IPAs. Really mild flavor but it may suit you fine if that's your thing. Overall it was underwhelming in flavor for me. 3

(Mouthfeel) Really slick, filmy with little carbonation presence aside from some subtle and mild froth, hardly enough to excite the tongue. Some crispness to the beer would benefit the texture and compliment the flavors tremendously. Body is light-medium, alcohol presence is low. Very underwhelming compliment to the mild flavors. 3

(Overall) Really more promising by appearance and smell than it turns out to be. The flavors are subtle but decent if you are in for a mild-tasting American IPA. I would recommend this for people who are looking for the line between the 420 and the IPA, as I think it does this pretty well. I have to give it at least an average score because it is good for what it is but it's not particularly for me, and I would likely not get this again upon it not being anything particularly special or interesting. 3
