picked up this bomber in the atl at green's!
the appearance is super dark and danky just the way a double ipa should be
smells of a superb balance of malts and hops...maybe a touch of chocolate and a hint of coffee
the taste is very malty, but not over malted a nice balance with the hops...but the hops are almost don't make their presence known
the feel is the best ever!...super creamy and just coats your entire mouth
overall this might be one of the best double ipa's ive ever tried!

Aged Bottle, kept at 34F. Poured into a snifter.
A: dark, with thin, white head, and some lacing.
S: grapefruit, faint pine, maybe some peaches???
T: not the "Fresh, Sticky Nugs" I remember, but not unpleasant. Much more mellowed, and a flatter citrus hop, with less resin than before. Almost a clementine flavor. And more malt than before.
M: Dry, slightly boozy, and residual hop. Not bad.
O: I definitely enjoyed this more in 2011, but the age has made it interesting.

Thanks to JLindros for sharing this. Poured into a tulip.
A - Poured a hazy almost clear cranberry orange hue with a rather soapy thin head. Not too bad for side lacing.
S - Very, very sweet, no real hops, musty, light orange citrus.
T - Taste is more of the same for me. Lots of the musty, almost old hops (though I know this is fresh), with more dankish orange notes and caramel malts.
M - Mouthfeel is unfortunately rather boozy and yet somehow kind of thin.
O - Overall, like Jared highly disappointed with this beer. Much too sweet and malty/musty for my liking.

Thanks to JonnyGalt (Reddit) for this interesting looking beer.
Nice creamy 1 finger head fades semi slowly with nice thick lacing, cloudy hazy bright reddish cranberry color.
Nose is fresh red ale, tons of reddish malts, lots of caramel and toffee, coppery malts, lots of candy earthy hops, light candied citrus, bit no real fresh hops, light booze, fresh malty.
Taste starts with sweetness, quite sweet thick and malty, reddish malts, light toasty and copper malts, sweety syrupy, candied orange etc. hops bring lots of bitterness but no fresh dry hop taste, earthy and candy hops, candied orange and citrus again, light spicy hops, and a hint of resin when you go really deep. Light fluffy malt feel with a hint of booze. Finish is quite bitter, earthy spicy hops with light candied citrus lingering, and a bit of reddish sweety malts but mostly drier.
Mouth of a bit heavier bodied, decent carb, light warming booze.
Overall a bit let down. If this was just a double red ale I'd be satisfied, but there are no fresh hops at all as it should have had, otherwise decent malts and earthy hops. Can't find a date so there's no way to tell how fresh it is, so that's a huge negative hit for Sweetwater! If you want to sell freshly hopped beers you need to put a damn date on the bottle.

[Best served in a Snifter]
The pour was a murky chestnut brown with an average sized (1-2 finger) light beige rocky head that reduced after a short while to a few puddles and a medium collar of residue, letting forth some excellent sticky streaks of lace.
The aroma was of a dark bread malt, a moderate pine hop and an earthy yeast with notes of caramel, dark fruit and a bit of citrus (grapefruit).
The taste was a little sweet and yeasty with a note of caramel early on, but got extremely hoppy very quickly with a big dose of citrus and a mild touch of dark fruit towards the end. The flavor lasted average duration after the swallow with a nice lightly sweet citrus hoppiness left to linger.
Mouthfeel was just under medium in body with as dry texture and a soft carbonation.
Overall a good and hoppy Strong Ale with a nice mild sweetness to it...
