Cask at the brewery during International IPA Day.
Pours a hazy golden-copper color with a slightly off-white head that leaves decent lacing.
Smells of smooth pale malts with large amounts of citrus – both from the hops with more of a grapefruit edge and the lemon peel with a slightly more acidic aroma. Also present are slight amounts of earthy hops.
Tastes similar to how it smells, although the lemon peel doesn’t shine as much. Pale malts up front are joined quickly by citrus flavors, though skewed more toward grapefruit as in the normal IPA than lemon peel. Midway through hints of breadiness and heavier amounts of earthy and slight pine hop flavors come into play, fading out into a moderately bitter ending. Mouthfeel is good, with soft carbonation.
Overall this beer smelled very, very good, however the flavor profile didn’t quite deliver. Still, an interesting take that’s worth a shot.
