A-dark brown with a ring of white lace around the top

S-malty, sweet, and boozy

T-rich sweetness and malts dominate the taste, yeast and raisins is also tasted, finishes with some spice to even out the taste

M-rich, full body, moderate carbonation, leaves a sweet syrupy feel

D-pretty good, the alcohol is definitely tasted but not overwhelming, I would get it again

On tap at World of Beers in Charlotte NC, poured into a snifter glass.

A: Dark Brown/Reddish Hue, Passes No Light, Off White Head, Great Lacing

S: Plums, Cherries, Sweet Bready Malts

T: Sweet Bread, Plums, Apple

M: Great Carbonation, Medium Bodied, Mildly Sweet

Overall, pretty solid quad that hides the boozy flavor pretty well.

22oz bomber into a tulip - thank you santa!

A: Pours a muddy brown with a decent light tan head that fades to a ring and leaves a tiny bit of lacing on the glass.

S: The nose is immediately sweet and fruity with nice notes of cherries, prunes, toffee, and a touch of grape. It's pretty in your face and lets you know what's to come.

T: The taste starts with the fruity elements in the form of grapes, cherries, figs, and moves to the estery yeast flavors from the belgian yeast.

M: The feel is medium bodied and creamy. The booze is a bit evident here as well which knocks the score down a bit.

O: This has potential but everything is a bit over the top. I bet after a few years this thing would be damn good. Should have sat on it longer...

look: 4 | smell: 4 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 4 | overall: 3.5

Appearance: Pours a rather dark mahogany with an inch or so of foam; leaves quite a few strands of lace but doesn't have the classic Belgian look

Smell: Dates and figs, with a strong undertone of toffee

Taste: Dates and figs, up front, with almonds and toffee building by mid-palate; brown sugar and cinnamon spices enter, after the swallow, but the flavors fade into the finish

Mouthfeel: Full bodied with moderate carbonation

Overall: As a Quad, the beer falls short and will not have the longevity one would expect from the style; it lacks the yeasty Belgian complexity and, in many ways, is more like a Barleywine than a Quad; still, it is an enjoyable brew, just not up there with the best examples of the style

Hazy amber in color, nice head on top with good retention, left behind a good deal of lacing along the sides and the bottom of the glass. Some light sediment in the final pour.

light fruit notes, grapes, dates, perhaps some prunes at first come through. Lots of grain notes and a touch of alcohol as well. complex and overall a touch light for my tastes, but still had some nice touches especially as it warms up.rich fruit notes and complex taste were not lacking. Lots yeast floavors and an amped up feel to it, probably was stretched to its max, but it works.

Big thanks to AleWatcher for sending this as an extra in the Barleywine BIF. Served in a SAVOR snifter.

Pours a clear tawny-copper color with a short off-white head and no real lacing on the way down. The nose carries a bit of caramel and some really light dark fruits. Mild brown sugar and a bit of raisin. The flavor features dark fruits, but not nearly enough of them. It's more toward the malt. Medium body and light carbonation with a light sweetness. Not a terribly interesting quad.

received in a BIF trade. Touted as one of the best domestic Quads.

Bottle marketing language is confusing as to whether it's a blonde or a dark ale. I mean - it says Quad but then it lingers on some wacky Blonde narrative... Turns out it's a standard Quad. Pours a nice dark amber honey color.

Aroma is typical Belgian with maybe some added honey tones. Slight Earthy, yeasty, candied fruit (you've read as many of these as I have) Substantial head from a hard pour.

Taste is all that you'd expect. Medium candied fruits, Belgian yeast, champagne, malt - nothing special. Lots of alcoholic vapor. A little bit hoppy for the style.

Not bad but nothing that Trois Pistoles or Ichor doesn't also deliver. If I could get this locally waaay cheaper than say - Rochefort 10 - I'd drink it. But my guess is that it's a $14 bomber which makes it - just okay by domestic quad standards.

Don't get me wrong - impressive for GA. And good if you like ticking quads or you live in GA and can get it cheap. Otherwise - don't bother putting it on your list.

UPDATE: Couple clarifications: I was joking about 'okay for GA' - we don't have any better quads in PA. And another BA'er informed me that this was $5.50 when it was available (which it no longer is apparently) So first off - that's a phenomenal price for a bomber of almost anything. 2ndly - too bad it's not available more regularly, which puts the others I mentioned right back on top.
