There is a wall of taps that seems to go on forever. One of the best beer selections I've ever seen. They concentrate on California beer which is means lots of IPAs which is fine by me and they have lots of good Belgian style ales. They also have some cask ales which were served very nicely.
The taps rotate a lot but they always seem to have Pliny The Elder and they had the Younger this year too.
I always find great stuff on tap and the bartenders usually know their stuff.
Owned by the same guys as my other favorites Tonys Darts Away and Golden Road but Mohawk Bend is a little classier and a little more restaurant than it is bar. Great food with some good vegetarian options.
I have had some service issues last time I was in, but the bartender took care of me - manager was disinterested.
The space is fun and looks great. Highly recommended. I'd give it A+ but I'm docking a few points for service for now. Might up the score if they get it together next time.
I gave them $ because the beer is very reasonably priced. Food and other drinks are $$ but this is a beer review.

If you love California beer, and I do, this is the most wonderful place to drink. I take my wife, I take my mom, I take my boss, I take my bros and everyone loves it. It's a perfect combination of hipster cool, urban funk, classy refinement, and great vision. It's an old movie theater thats been converted into a bar/restaurant.
There is a front patio on Sunset Blvd and a back atrium that is quiet and serene and in between there are more taps than you could hope to drink.
The food is great and offers both veggies (wife) and meatheads (me) a lot of options.
The bartender told me that I had to try the Buffalo Cauliflower (sounds right up my alley - not) and it was amazing. I get it every time now.
Ask Nick (tall bartender) what to drink. He won't steer you wrong and you'll probably find some beers you've never heard of.
Parking sucks - ride your bike.

Mohawk Bend has 70 taps. 65 of them are California beers and 5 are from one brewery that comes from beyond the state border. Right now They have Uinta from Utah and they have had such breweries at Dogfish Head, Epic, Oskar Blues, New Belgium in the past.
The beer is served at the right temp and un the right glass and the bartenders seem to know what they are talking about without talking too much.
They obviously care a lot about the beer and the taps rotate on a regular basis.
Food is great but can be hit or miss. Some is amazing (buffalo cauliflower, PBJ pizza) and some is forgettable (bangers and mash and Tomato soup).
Servers are cool but can be slow as the place gets really busy sometimes.
The beer prices are downright cheap and that's why you're reading this so I'll get back to the beer.
They always have Pliny on tap, so bonus points for that. They usually have interesting beers on the cask engine and they typically have a bunch of nitro beers if that's your thing.
Reliably strong in the IPA and stout categories, notably weak in the lager department but they always have a couple.
This is among the elite beer places in LA for good reason.

I visited Mohawk Bend tonight with my wife and buddy for dinner and drinks. It's in a somewhat seedy area with parking on the street with meters or valet parking. The building itself is an old theater of some sort and I must admit it is pretty neat inside. We sat in the very back of the space and there was a wood fire burning the entire time. Lots of "hip" people in here too. They have around 60 odd taps total but I don't think they were all being used. Quality was very good with the beers we got. They only offer 2 flights at any time and they don't let you make your own which I am not a big fan of. However, they will let you get half pints of beer but only the beers that are sold in full pint glasses (no half pints of tulip or goblet beers). Service was pretty good but not that great. The food is pretty great and everything we ordered was really tasty. However, prices for food and drinks are pretty damn expensive. Overall, this is a pretty cool spot to visit if you don't mind iffy parking, hipsters, and pretty expensive prices.

Big fan of this place. Huge list of CA beers on tap and a great vegan menu sealed the deal for me.
Apparently this is a converted theatre. Very spacious but gets crowded for sure. We went on a Saturday night and had to wait a few minutes to get a table to eat. Got seats at the bar and had a few pints. I like the design of this place, especially the bar. Very sleek with efficient use of space. Tables in front and on the sides, also way in the back and a few communal tables in the middle. Bar is not huge but big enough, I suppose, though as I mentioned, it does get crowded.
I like how they focus on CA craft beers. Some might like more variety but you can go to many other places to get that type of beer list. The list is extensive, 72 taps. Many hoppy offerings and lots of local brews as well as a number of bay area and northern CA taps. I had a few IPAs and a saison, along with a hoppy pale ale. I tried all local LA beers as I don't normally get to taste these. All very good.
Menu is great. Lots of vegan options and options for omnivores as well. Reasonably priced and the food was very good. I would definitely come back just for the food but the beer takes it way over the top for me. Had the Avo and Chips entree, the Able Farmin' pizza and the flatbreads with hummus, olive tapenade and eggplant. Good stuff.
Highly recommended, especially for vegans who love beer. Nice atmosphere, not too loud despite the crowds. Nice little lounge area in front too, before you even get to the main entrance. Check it out if you're down in LA.

I gotta say, the service could be better. A lot better. Dependably better. Our last visit was fine, but this time our bartender did a few things before she came over and cleared dirty dishes away from in front of us (but didn't wipe the area clean), walked away and did a few other things without any further contact like, say, giving us menus. Maybe the hostess was supposed to do that and the bartender was busy doing more important things. Maybe she was annoyed we didn't sit at the clean spot and cram up against the other customers already there. But without a menu or attention we couldn't order so we didn't and left. Slow service seems endemic in this place as I could see other waitstaff weren't in any hurry, either. It's a real shame because they have the best pizza I've had in Los Angeles, but I don't want to gamble on whether our server will have time or energy to actually be of service. I won't hesitate to try again, but I'll leave and go to Taix if this is the kind of service they offer.
I give the beer selection a 4.5 but only within its being 100% California beer. i'm the biggest California beer booster evah, but confining yourself to only California beer is frustrating. I'd knock off a point for excluding everything else, but based on it having only California beers, it is near perfect in that aspect.
I liked this place a lot more than I thought I would. I was afraid of it being hipster central, but I was with a terrific group of beer geeks and i'm sure that made the difference. If it was just me and the hubby it could well be a different story. But being that I was with a bunch of beer geeks who wanted to shoot the shit and talk about beer and other things, lengthy time waits were not a problem. I think the long waits are due to the servers because the foam on my beer had disappeared in a way that you knew the server coulda gotten it to you five minutes ago, but didn't. On the other hand, the server was unfailingly smiling and helpful when bringing a number of taste samples and seemed to enjoy working in a place with a lot of interesting beers.
The food was excellent. Date wrapped chorizo and Pig Newton pizza were totally great. One of the others at my table, a usually generous soul, had mussels and did not offer anyone a taste, so they must've been exceptional.
The atmosphere, while truly gorgeous, is a little hipper than thou but if you get there when there's room at the bar or if you accept that nothing can harsh the buzz you'll get from the food and the beer, it's a very enjoyable place.

So I've been to this place when it first opened, and tonight for the second time. The first time I went, I thought that the food was only ok. Not much to choose from, since they have a small menu. Though the food was very good at times, it also failed on other attempts. This place can be amazing, and you can taste it, but I feel like they are still new and tend to fail on some plates. Interior look was awesome! Especially the suedo outdoor patio at the back. Very inventive. Service was prompt, but felt that the staff did not know much of the Beer List. Left the first time underwhelmed. I was looking forward to the place opening for months.
Tonight was the second night there. We decided to try the unlimited pizza night. For $12 this is a steal. It was served like the Brazilian meat restaurants. They walk around with different pizzas and you can try slices of whatever you want. Definitely a great idea! I must say its a great idea to have variations of the pizzas in vegan and non vegan renditions, but wow the vegan ones were not even close to as good as the real versions. I will definitely be back for these Monday nights.
When it comes to the Beer Selection, it is vast with 70+ taps. It is heavily IPA filled which I understand due to most people in Ca going for these. I'm not as obsessed with IPAs as many people are and find that the Porters & Stouts selections are limited and run of the mill. I would like to see them get a few more hard to find ones. Overall this place is a great place to try, especially on Monday nights. If you love IPAs, this is your spot.

Holy Moly, this place is big - really really big. Went in for a Dogfish Head event and had a ton of great beers from DFH and some California breweries too.
They have over 70 taps and its all craft beer - not a Miller in the house which is very pleasing.
Its a beautiful space with lots of flair but not too fancy. I was surprised by many things including the menu which was full of unusual but delicious offerings.
I'm a huge fan of their other place, Tony's Darts Away in Burbank. So aside from the expansiveness and the menu, I was also surprised by how different the vibe is. It's a lot of fun and a cool place to hang out, but it doesn't have that neighborhood bar feel that I love about Tony's.
My favorite thing about Mohawk Bend, other than the crazy tap list, is their brunch. Check it out on Saturdays and Sundays. It's amazing!!!

Visited Mohawk Bend shortly after they opened, and it was pretty busy. We were able to score a seat opposite the bar, in a small corner while we waited for a seat for dinner service.
Then waited in another line to go up to the bar to order our drinks, and that moved a bit slow as well. New place, very crowded, so some kinks to work out. We were not in a rush, so it wasn't a big deal. Great tap selection at over 70, so no complaints there.
Once seated in the rear dinner service, the mood became more intimate, since the size of the space is more open in the back, from wall to wall, and the high ceilings. Brick walls, with live vegetation growing thoughout the space add to the ambience. Nice spot for a birthday dinner imo.
The food was interesting, had the pizza for my main course, and it was fine. Food seemed to be a bit pricey for the portions, but their menu is in flux, and changes from what I've read & heard.
Service was hit and miss, not bad per se, just busy, and the lay out of the space, with this size of a crowd leaves something to be desired there.
All in all, worth a visit now in then, and while it won't be my personal local watering hole, it is a nice upscale spot for LA, and from all accounts on the crowds, is doing well, craft beer is going strong here, and is here to stay.

The converted theater has a unique inviting vibe. We've only sat at the large table near the bar (not at tables with service), so our experience could be unique. It takes a long time to get a bartender's attendance, and even longer to cash out. Ordering food is problematic - we've seen our food given to later patrons almost every time weve been there since you don't have a server "dedicated" to you. Use the valet (they do validate parking) only if you have time to wait. Typical time to get your car back is 10-15 minutes.
The food is creative and eclectic, very "LA", and pairs well with the vast selection of beers.
The beer selection is great, but they limit sampler flights to a pre-selected list, and often have to substitute one or more as they sell out (substitutions are their choice, not yours). The staff know very little about the beers on tap, or beer in general. So it isn't necessarily the best place for newbies.
We'll definitely be back due to the great beer selection and interesting food, but only when we aren't in a rush.
