Huge thanks to sideshowe for sharing!

Pours a hazy and very dark ruby red/chestnut brown color with mahogany edges and a two finger, frothy off-white head.   Great retention, only slowly fading into a thick, lasting ring.  Streaks of soapy lacing are left behind.

Fruit punch-like aroma with lots of vinous fruit and subtle barrel character. Nice oak and vinous red wind presence in the nose along with vanilla bean, sweet malt and dark fruit.  Smells like sangria and tropical fruit punch along with vinous berries, oak, vanilla and subtle malts.

Medium body with a really nice barrel presence that's there but doesn't dominate, letting the other notes come through.  Sweet with vinous red wine and dark fruit flavor, especially currant, cherry juice and other tropical fruit.  Slightly tart tropical fruit punch flavor with damp oak, red wine character and dark fruit esters.  Perfectly balanced with oak, vinous fruit, red wine, Belgian yeast and subtle spice flavors complimenting each other nicely.  No noticeable heat making his beer dangerously drinkable. I was really impressed with Hermitage and it has me looking forward to trying more beers from Forest & Main.

First had: bottle from F&M, shared by me at a recent tasting

Forest & Main is good/bad for it's casual bottle releases. Good that there's no big fanfare or line-ups to get the bottles, and you can just stroll in and get as many as they'll sell you, days after the release; bad in that since there's no big fanfare, you really have to keep your eyes open for bottle releases, because they come and go quickly and inconspicuously.

Slight hazy, burnt copper color with cranberry tints, a huge puff of off-white head that eventually settled to a thin layer, leaving light lacing on the glass. Light vinous notes in the aroma, sweet malts, grassy, with a subtle barrel quality coming through. In the taste, a solid malt backbone, melded with red wine, strawberry-rhubarb, oak, leather, maybe a little herbal hoppiness in there as well; mildly tart with a hint of acetic acid. Body was medium, mouthfeel was crisp, carbonation was soft, making for a quite drinkable beer overall.

*After aging just a couple months, this brew has picked up much more funky, sour, earthy notes. Interesting, and good enough to bump my rating up a bit.

** Opened my last bottle just after the 2 year mark. Held up nicely! Didn't really "improve" significantly, but definitely stood the test of time. A little more cobwebby, but in a good way.

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter. Bottle #118 of 204.

Appearance - Murky brown copper. Nice off white head. Excellent retention and some lacing.

Smell - Bretty, acidic. Wine barrel is nice. Nothing terribly special, but nice.

Taste - Much nicer and more complex. Wine character. Nice tartness. Malt is still there. Lots of lemony flavors that pair well with the malts, surprisingly. Very nice.

Mouthfeel - Well carbonated. Medium bodied. Never gets overpowering with the acidity.

Overall - Complex and very tasty. Impressive offering. I'll be looking out for this brewery.
