Just fantastic.
The overall flavor profile was of a dry stout, but there were notes that were more like a stronger American stout--mildly sweet chocolate stood out the most.
It was extremely well balanced, and complex while still being easy to sip.

First had: on tap at their brewpub
Hand-pumped into a nonic, Queen Anne poured a dark brown-black, nearly opaque, but definitely translucent around the edges. A huge puff of creamy head topped this sucker when it came out of the cask; it receded mostly, but left some nice lacing on the glass. There was no joking about the cask-conditioning here...the beer was room temperature, and by that I mean quite near 70 degrees F...not a bit of chill here. Aroma of dark malts and notes of coffee and cocoa. The taste reflected the aroma, with dark malts, mild roastiness, and light but distinct cocoa notes. About medium-bodied, which really worked for this beer, despite my penchant for full-bodied stouts. Smooooth and quite enjoyable overall. I could chill out and drink this all night.
