On cask @ the Forest & Main Brewing Company (Ambler, PA) on 11/2/12. Served in a mug.
Pours a clear gold, with a finger of frothy bright-white head. This stays rich looking, leaving back sudsy lacing that sticks to the sides of the glass. The aroma smells dry in the nose, with notes of pine, pith and spice, with a lightly buttered bready backing of malt. The hops definitely sit at the forefront of this though.
The taste is similar, with dry pine and bitter pith across the tongue, which is soothed a bit my some light herbal tones. A doughy buttered feel from the malts hangs on the edges of the profile, helping balance the aggressiveness of the hops while keeping the focus on the hops, which linger with some strength in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a crisp feel on the tongue and then a softer crispness which spreads out across the back. Some light hoppy oils also intertwine in with the feel and help keep this smooth.
This was nice; with this being I guess a hoppier American take on an English Pale Ale. It was definitely flavorful and easy drinking here on cask. This left a nice first impression on us of this newish brewpub.

First had: on tap at F&M, Ambler, PA
Poured a mostly clear golden-amber color with a small white head; moderate retention, minimal lacing. Crisp hops in the aroma with a solid sweet malt base. Essentially the same on the tongue, good balance of sweet malts and floral hops, light citrus notes. Pretty average for the style, nothing you haven't had before, but nice overall. Light-medium body and quite drinkable.
