thanks so much to tenderbranson69 for sharing this bottle with me, enjoyed chilled in a cervoise.
The color is golden thickly hazed with amber hue and 2 finger white head with streamers of lace collecting while swirled. The smell has a light fruity aroma with nice wine high notes from the barrel and vinous white grape is plentiful in the smell with subtle sour aroma from the yeast with light hint of citrus fruit. The feel is tangy, juicy and vinous with moderately low carbonation and slight acidity mid palate with a gentle sweetness and slight dry woody tannin in the finish.
The beer is described as a saison aged in white wine barrels so the sour I am getting may be naturally occurring brett from the barrel perhaps or just the combination of saison yeast and wine barrel aging either way it is gentle with low sweetness to add complexity and slight lemony lactic quality with plenty of woody tannin in the back end which adds to the complexity. Overall this is very good, comes off as a little more wine dominant since it was aged for an extended period some of the saison quality is obscured with decent drinkability and enjoyable for what it is - a hybrid wine/belgian ale which was nice to try
