Enjoyed in a big shaker pint at the Mellow Mushroom.

Flat black, without a hint of light coming through. The head is a thin, silky layer of sandy tan.

Light aroma with mild sweetness. Toasted cocoa; a touch of vanilla and oats; a very subtle licorice note.

Same deal in the flavor. A somewhat stale raisin note in the front meets smooth black licorice. The swallow delivers the oats, bitter chocolate and a hint of roast. Finishes smooth and sweet finish, but it's a little too subtle throughout.

Big, creamy medium body contrasts the weak flavor. Carbonation is a little high, prickling the tongue painfully. Very clean, with no alcohol.

Sweet Devil’s a very drinkable stout. I just wish there were more flavor to be had.

This is a classic, traditional stout; nothing special but nothing bad.

Pours black with a nice dark khaki head.

Nose is nicely malty with medium assertiveness of black coffee and undertones of chocolate and espresso. Nice roasted grain malty character all around.

Mouthfeel is medium bodies with nice balance and carbonation.

Flavor profile of simple coffee, a bit of espresso light bitter and undertones of light black chocolate. There is nothing that knocks your socks of with this one and is a milder and less intense version, in my opinion, of College Street's better Death by Chocolate Stout, which they should make their regular stout, which would be amazing to have year round and not as a special release.

Nice bitter espresso finish. All in all a nice, decent and drinkable stout, pretty much like other decent stouts.

Rather nice beige head in the globe glass. Pleasingly sudsy in the mouth when you pour another finger. A whiff of chocolate.

Malty and slightly sweet. Grainy and a little chalky with plenty of roasted malt. This could almost be considered the Sweet Stout style. Winey flavors with a sharp edge. Well balanced with some malty sweetness, a touch of hops, and that faint tartness. A little burnt sugar. Fairly dry finish with some pleasant bitterness. Sudsy to the end.

Quite drinkable, well-made, dark beer without any special interest. From the 12 oz bottle at AJ's Fine Foods in Chandler.

I was hesitant to try this state based on appearance in the store. I purchased it from Total Wine in Gilbert AZ and they don't care many of College Streets beers. The name sold me and it's a stout so I really had no excuse not to try it. Especially since it was only $1.49.

Appearance was as expected. Thick and rich and non-transparent.

Smell was not remarkable by any means.

The taste made up for the smell 10 fold. This was heavy in coffee and chocolate. It was sweet, rich, and wonderful. My only only regret was not purchasing more of them. I suggest this beer for sure and thru the winter expect to grab a couple of them in my weekly beer runs.

Thanks,
