Pours a deep black color. No light penetrates through. A thick, creamy like tan colored foam head with substantial retention.
Aroma: some slightly roasted, coffee, chocolate, and sweet malty notes.
Taste: Follows the nose. Coco and coffee. Roasty, sweet malts make up the backbone. A thick, creamy mouthfeel.
Overall: this is a straightforward stout. Not overly complex but nicely balanced balanced.

Pours Jet black with some carbonation. Nose is virtually nonexistent. Tastes of chocolate very drinkable for a stout - just mild compared to some of the superstars.

12 oz. can:
Pours black with a creamy tan, lasting head. Trailing lace sticks. a beautiful looking stout.
The smell is of chocolate with some coffee and dark earthy notes.
The taste is of bitter roast upfront turning to a chocolate and toffee sweetness. Earthy dry finish.
Smooth - alcohol well hidden. Not the fullest American stout, but it hits medium and it fits well here. Roast lingers.
A nice American stout. Good example of the style.

Pours a dark black with a small brown head and lots of floaties (would be a 4 in look but the floaties are a turn off). Smells of coffee, roasted malts, and dark chocolate. Tastes strongly of dark coffee, lots of dark chocolate, and roasted malts. Medium in body and carbonation. Overall it's a great local stout that really emphasizes coffee and chocolate.

The appearance was a dark black color. one finger off white foamy head that quickly dies and leaves no lacing. The smell had a mainly dark roasty chocolate, and I don’t know why but I get a rubbery sort of aroma - weird and as far as I knowits not necessarily unpleasant, its just different. The taste was a roasty sweet chocolate, still getting the rubber in the taste as well, leaves the same aftertaste and has a super sweet sticky finish. On the palate, it sat about a medium on the body, tries to show a sessionable aspect but maintains a somewhat heavier effect to make me try to sip it. Overall, I say this is a pretty good stout.

Black, a tiny ruby bulb up to the light. A good finger of tan foamy head, that slowly fades and sticks to the glass. Lots of floaties in this one. The aroma is lots of roasted malt, chocolate, minor coffee, and a little brown sugar; smells sweet overall. In the flavor, nice balance of sweet and bitter, both are there. Quite a bit of smoke in the flavor, along with the chocolate and some java notes. Also a bit of a char flavor. I kind of like that; some, don't. Feel is medium body, and very dry on the finish. Up front, it's slightly sticky and good carbonation. I think this is a stand out in that, it is just a bit different enough from the usual stout of this abv with that smokiness. Better than an 81, for sure, to me.

It is a nice dark brown in color with a golden head. Smells of chocolate and coco powder. Has a very smooth chocolate and licorice flavor with a clean finish. Very nice stout cold and easy to drink on hot day. Loved the coffee and chocolate flavors that arrived on the finish. Excellent beer!
