This beer pours a light, clear golden color with a bit of head that leaves slight lacing. It has a funky European lager aroma of musky grain and straw. It has a flavor that is both light yet satisfying at the same time, without jumping forward in any particular area of flavor. It is a refreshing lager whose aroma is a bit bigger than its flavor but would be a good complement to laying on the beach or a summer grill out.

500ml can poured into a pint glass.
A - Poured a clear yellow with a nice thick 3cm foamy head. The foam slowly dissipated. Some lacing is produced.
S - Sweet and grassy but overall pretty light.
T - Sweet grains, more sweetness with light fruity notes, and a light hop bitterness in the finish. The balance is definitely on the sweet side.
M - Good carbonation, a bit watery in the finish.
D - Pretty good beer. The two cans I had were gone in no time.

12oz can, sampled on the beach during my honeymoon in Montego Bay. I felt like doing a little beer tasting with all the Jamaican lagers available at the resort. Poured into a water glass similar to a goblet and sampled alongside Red Stripe and Real Rock.
Pours a bright golden straw color with a frothy head. Mostly clear, just a touch of cloudiness. Spotty lacing.
The aroma is noble hops and damp, sweet malt. Some cereal grains and a bit of cooked vegetables, also just a touch of sulfur.
The taste is smooth. Just a a touch grainy and a slight biscuit toast. Noble hops are in effect., adding a slight floral character. The finish is sweet with a touch of caramel, and some lingering mild bitterness. Some sugar cane sweetness lingers.
Mouthfeel is light bodied with carbonation a' plenty. This was perhaps my favorite beer of the bunch because it was lighter and very drinkable. The smell was the low point, however. But, when it's in a can and you're drinking on the beach in Jamaica or elsewhere in the Caribbean, you can't go wrong. Or you could go wronger, depending on how you look at it.

Drank out of the bottle on a tour of St. Lucia. Appeared a clear straw yellow with some small white lacing around the bottle.
Smell of corn mash and some light adjunct aromas with just an inkling of any hops. Yeah I guess they were there somewhere.
Taste of malt, corn sugars and a faint flavor of hops. Strong carbonation and a light mouthfeel as an adjunct lager should be. Pretty refreshing and crisp for an adjunct lager, not overall that bad and definitely refreshing while in the sun on a nice day to go snorkeling.

Clear bottle dated a few months old
A: Pours the standard pale straw color with a frothy head. Retention is pretty good.
S: As soon as you open the cap you get skunk (maybe because this one is a little old). Beyond that, you get lots of wheat and grain aromas. Slight corn and sweetness as well.
T: Lots of wheat, grains and corn. Slight sweetness to it. Pretty damn good. Hop profile is very subtle and only adds a touch of bitterness.
MF/D: High carbonation giving a slight bite. Sweet wheat finish.
Notes: This beer is brewed very well to style. A little more flavorful and fuller in body than others.

Poured from 12oz bottle into a pint glass.
Appearance: clear, pale straw color with three fingers of foamy white head. It gets the job done for a beer of this style.
Smell: dry, sour grain with just a hint of skunk. Could be worse, but it's not good.
Taste: better than the aroma, thankfully. Flavor is a bit sweeter than the aroma, but it is noticeably adjunct-y. There's a hint of bitterness toward the end; overall, it's pretty smooth and inoffensive. Par for the style.
Mouthfeel: pretty watery but there's a good level of carbonation here. That puts it about in an even book for me.
Drinkability: relatively light and refreshing. If the beer were a bit colder and the day a bit hotter, I might rate it even higher.
I suppose every country needs its own macro lager, and I guess this is Trinidad & Tobago's. I see only now that the best-by date stamped on the bottle is February 2010; still, I don't feel like a fresher bottle would have much more to offer.

This is a beer that needs to be reviewed for what it is - a mass-produced adjunct lager. For what it is I find it closer to the top of the spectrum than not.
Had this in a bottle on the shores of St. Kitts from a little stand on the edge of some black lava cliffs. It was an amazing experience. We had just finished climbing the volcano on the island and no beer has ever hit the spot like this one.
The color is average straw color of a lager, looks like a Corona, clear bottle and all.
Smelled about the same, a little of that skunky smell you get from the adjunct lagers.
Taste was very similar to a Corona with a touch of citrus, maybe lime.
Nicely carbonated very light bodied and easy drinking. I finished off the bottle in about two minutes and was looking for more. Served ice cold I'd take Carib over any American adjunct lager any day of the week. But when you want some body or flavor you need to look elsewhere.

a- bottle poured into a pint, nearly a finger, straw coloring, head fades to an uneven layer of lace.
s- skunk, sweetness, hay, straw.
t- skunk, echoes nose, not great taste here, there is a residual candy like sweetness that isn't pleasant.
m- light, watery.
d- not great drinkability here, i wouldn't seek this beer out again.

Drinking this out of a tulip. Looks a little funny pouring.
A- Wow, I'm holding the bottle to the light and what looked like a dark gold is actually very light. Almost like some sort of peach water.
Poured it and got a lot of fizz which foamed up and right back down just as fast leaving a very thin crown. Halfway through my serving, the liquid is totally still. Looks like it's been sitting there for three days.
S- I don't think I'm going to like this. Burnt cream of wheat. A bit of rice alcohol or something reminding me of sake anyways. Warming up releases a nice noble hop aroma, at least it feels nice amidst all the other less appealing flavors.
T- Very similar to smell. Clean finish with a fleeting after-taste.
M- Medium carbonation. Quite smooth but I think a little drier would be better.
D- Seems good but I dislike the taste too much to be able to drink lots.
Don't want to drink this again.
EDIT: Finished my bottle off with some Mushroom Oka which was by no means a good pairing but made the beer blander thus easier to swallow. Washing down beer with stinky cheese...

Following the recent thread on finding fault w/expired beer, I purchased this beer at a LeClerc in France. The entire stock was marked "BB Apr 10." I asked a stocker if they were going to drop the price. He was shocked that the expiration had slipped by them, called his mgr to ask if they'd drop the price for the customer. The mgr said no, take them off the shelf, (but did not say they were expired and shouldn't be consumed). So cheers to the stocker, but this is a perfect example of a store selling dated beer w/no fault belonging to the brewer. I bought one bottle just for kicks, and I'm about to rate it, so there's a little fault to the consumer since I know better. But when's the next time I'll see this stuff?
A- Golden straw color. Head & retention aren't bad, and leave bits of tracing. Slight haze.
S-Grainy w/bit of sweet malt. Faint hint of hops, bread and citrus.
T-Slightly sweet upfront rounded out by slightly fruity (lemon & pear) midpalate, light bready malt, noble hops in the finish, a tad of booziness in the aftertaste, and a bit of fruit that resonates too.
M-Light-bodied w/puckery little suds. Well-balanced.
D-Not a bad little beer. I don't have any to compare at the moment, but it'd go w/Latin American fare as good as most of the beers from that region.

A: Strong, clear yellow color with foamy, thick head that doesn't dissipate too quickly.
S: Strong adjunct malts and extremely strong cooked veggies... slightly offending at first, but the smell grows on you.
T: Strong wheat and straw with a bit of funk and some honey sweetness. I was expecting the typical thin lager but it seems that Carib is a different animal... a stronger concoction than the average stuff.
M: Lighter on the carbonation with a slightly heavy, smooth body.
D: Surprisingly drinkable; I can see this being good for cooling off in the Caribbean.

Grabbed this at an off license in near the Ala Mona Centre in Waikiki but actually ended up drinking it in Vegas, looked average but have not had much beer from that part of the world so thought I would nip in.
Looks average to me, too bubbly and very strawy and the smell was a little funky actually, reminded me of Bintang. Taste is a little watery but to be honest I could see myself drinking it in the right climate, on a beach in the West Indies. I should of drank it in Hawaii instead of Vegas in November. Like a lot of these beers they are made to refresh and suit the climate in the country they are made in.

Carib Lager is a light yellow in color with a one inch, white head that fades to a collar. The first thing I get out of the beer, as I pop the cap, is a skunk aroma. Hard to overcome. Surprisingly, I do not find the taste skunked. I was expecting a lager in the Landshark vein, but Carib is better. It has the sweet, grainy malt taste, but it adds a nice bite and a bit of lemon to the after taste. The feel is light bodied with good carbonation. Drinkability is also good.
Carib is an above average lager. I found it to be satisfying.

Got this to go along with a takeout Indian meal, which, around here, is not a common thing, given the still quasi-Draconian licensing laws...
This beer pours a slightly hazy pale straw colour, with a couple fingers of thin soapy white head, which leaves nary a speck of lace as it quickly dissipates. It smells of corn/rice sweetness, and cooked veggies. The taste is rice pudding, almost bready at first, some oily alcohol, starchy veggies, and eau de skunkgrass. The carbonation is moderate, the body cloying as hell, and it finishes off-dry, that grainy, vegetal skunkiness outstaying it's already dubious welcome.
Not refreshing in the least, which one would imagine being its only marketable attribute. Nope.

Carib Lager, tried in St. Thomas.
Appearance-a pale yellow color, whispy white head that isn't really controlled, it rushes up and decipitates quickly.
Smell-pale grain, fusel alchohol, light malt, hop
Taste/Mouthfeel-grainy, slightly sour, not memorable, I've tasted this flavor many times before and this isn't the best example.
Drinkability-not even all that refreshing on a hot summer day, flavors are weak and don't really go together.
Overall-dissapointing, not a good lager by any stretch, doesn't stand out in any way.

Appearance - Pale, crystal clear, small head.
Taste - Very sweet...like malt liquor. Surprisingly it has a bit of body, but nothing to brag about. Not bad as far as the style goes. The only really unpleasing part was the metallic like taste that tends to hang around for awhile.

330ml bottle poured into 400ml dab glass oct1 2009
A crystal clear straw yellow, with a two finger head with poor retention and no lace
S what smell maybe some faint grass and lemon
T some bread, grass and some skunk, gotta love the clear bottles with an open top box
M another thin flat lager nothing special here
D I could drink this on a hot day if there was nothing better
perhaps a certain health magazine is not the best judge of beer (go figure) because this is not the best beer in the world or even Trinidad for that matter

Poured a pale, clear golden color with a good amount of bubbly head.
The scent was of grains mostly.
The taste wsa mostly of grains, slight hop bitterness, some notes of lemon, and slightly metallic.
Medium bodied, smooth and creamy with good carbonation.
Very easy drinker, not much different than most other American Lagers.

S: A mild smell of faint malts and a note of sweet fruits.

Pours straw yellow in colour with a good foamy white head. This one smells fruity and you can easily pinpoint a corn odour. Maybe some citrus, but quite faint. In mouth, sweet corn comes up as the major flavour. On the fruit side, it's hard to tell, no citrus flavour detected as the odour suggested. Quite unidimensional. Aftertaste is sweet and bitterness is nearly absent. Carbonation is pleasant and the overall felling is quite nice. Typical of Caribbean islands beers. This one would go down VERY easily if I was on a beach...

12 oz poured into Pint Glass
A: Yellow and straw colored... with about 1 fingers worth of foamy white head, that disappeared quickly... No lacing to speak of.
S: Very sour fruity soda like... lime & lemons mixed with corn...
T: Corn right up front with a sour backbone... The limes & lemons come on at the end.... Ends a little bitter but not bad.
M: Light, crisp with a sharp carbonation...
D: If I was sitting in the Islands this my be great, you could pound them down.... But overall too corny for me...
After reading some review I saw someone nail it... It is the Caribbean Corona... It reminded me of the Le Presidento I had in the Dominican... If you like this kind of beer give it a try.

Carib is Miller High Life, Bud, Corona, Tecate, Modelo Especial, and Pacifico rolled into one corn-fed lager. Carib pours golden in a pint glass. There is lots of sweet malty corn in this brew, so much so I could not take more than three sips.
For the novice: Save your money and continue to buy your choice of the American/Mexican brands listed above.
Personally: I think I was more upset that a friend's father actually plunked down 26 dollars for a case of this stuff, when he could have saved his money and bought Lionshead or Iron City instead.

Thanks to the sister-in-law for bringing this back from the Virgin Islands. Clear bottle has a best by date of MAR/10. Pours a light gold color with a thin cap of white head that fades at a moderate clip for the style. Some, but not much lacing is evident.
Not too much going on in the nose, but what is there smells very fresh. Some lightly sweet malts and a bit of lagery sulfur.
Sweet maltiness dominates the flavor on this beer and there is not really any hops to balance it out, maybe just a slight drying effect on the finish. It is pretty fresh tasting and has more of a malt flavor than corn or rice adjuncts. Mouthfeel is a bit above average as it is even a touch creamy and plenty carbonated. I could drink more than just a few of these on a nice Caribbean vacation.

330mL can poured into a pint glass.
Pours a very, very light straw with tons of bubbles streaming to the top feeding a big white fluffy head that recedes quickly to a soapy cap and leaves a little lacing.
Aroma is pretty uninspiring with some pale malts, yeast and a hint of lemon and grassy hops.
The taste isn't much better with the light yeast and pale malts dominating. There's not much in the way of the lemony hops I got in the aroma, so the taste is possibly more bland than the aroma.
The mouthfeel is light and watery with good carbonation but very little substance overall on the palate.
When you're sitting on a beach in the Caribbean, you might could argue that the quality of the beer should be the least your worries. That said, this is not one I'd go back to and will stick with a Red Stripe next time. Once it warms up, even a slight bit, it gets pretty tough to finish.

275ml bottle poured into a nonic - fridge - 2008
Appearance: Pours a very pale, transparent, urine yellow with a 2.5" white head. It shows good retention and some tiny bubbles that flow to the surface. Foamy suds make a modest coating on the glass.
Smell: Pretty skunky aroma mixes with a light lager yeast and lemon filled hops. Basic, pale, and pretty uninteresting.
Taste: Smooth lager malts combine with some hop bitterness that is mostly citric. Not a whole lot of flavor.
Mouthfeel: Smooth and well balanced with malt and hops. Lingering hop bitterness with some alcohol, too.
Drinkability: A session brew without much flavor or complexity. Better than the mass-produced lagers of the United States. A welcomed brew from the island of Grenada.
