Auburn and caramel color, nice clarity, good solid 1"+ depth of white head, pretty lacing down the side I didn't drink out of.
Aroma of more caramel and toffee. Decent.
Taste was smooth, but lacking any nuttiness, the toffee and caramel notes were just my imagination, like the song. There doesn't seem to be much in terms of an overhopped traditional style thing, but there is a little bitterness and astringency that developed in the mouthfeel that didn't taste hop derived. Maybe its because they used a little less malt to make this more 'drinkable'.
Nothing was terrible about this beer, but it was far from anything worth recommending when they always have been pretty good and consistent with the pale ale. Recommended if you like pretty beer that doesn't have a lot of taste.

On-tap at BJ's Brea
A: The pour is a copper sort of color with a thin off-white head.
S: A skunked, lager yeast type of aroma on the front end isn't a good start to the beer experience. A bit of a chocolate note along with some toffee and bread.
T: There's sweet bread and toffee to start, which is decent enough. There are a bit of earthy hop flavors and toasted malts. A bit too much in terms of bitterness, but it seems it may be tannins/astringency from the grains.
M: The body is medium with a moderate carbonation.
D: Seems kind of late for them to have an Oktoberfest on-tap, but who knows. It wasn't anything worth writing home about, but at least it was better than the IPA they had on.
