Reviewed on 6/27/2010. On tap at the brewpub. Pours a slightly hazy orange with a thick white head. Aroma of citrus, sweet caramel malt, and sweaty hops. Flavor of citrus hops, hops oils, caramel malt. A very tasty IPA -- good stuff! One of the better fresh IPAs from a Michigan brewpub.

Beer was on tap. Was a lovly reddish orange with a white head. The aroma was of citrus. Taste was pretty complex, started with citrus but had a noticeable roasty nutty character that added a lot of depth to this beer. The beer was very drinkable, and was a pretty typical if not slightly more malty version of an IPA

Got this in the bar in a 16oz pint glass.
A- Kinda orange/Coppery color. Not too hazy, nice clarity.
S- Very light on the hops in my opinion. Some citrus notes but nothing over powering.
T- Along the same lines and the smell, some citrus notes but nothing spectacular.
M- Mouthfeel was decent, not too sweet or to bitter and went down nicely.
D- I could drink a few of these but I preferred the Dunkelweizen over this brew.
A fairly decent IPA. I was expecting more from the hops department on this but not bad.

Pours a hazy copper/ orange-ish color with a white head. In the aroma, small hop, touch of citrus. In the taste, small citrus, big piney hops. A small bite and medium mouthfeel, with a semi dry piney hop aftertaste. Very nice, nice piney hops and quite good.

Thanks to Sean for bringing back a corney keg and sharing it with MASH membership at April meeting. I was surprised to learn that Opie IPA came from nearby Bell's Cafe in Kalamazoo.
Pours a slightly orange amber with ivory head that leaves heavy lace in the pitcher used to transfer to tasting glasses. Wonderful dry hopped aroma and hoppy flavor with enough malt character to balance. Lower hop bitterness in finish makes this a good session beer. Reminds me somewhat of Victory Hop Devil. I may have to dig out a bottle and compare. Well brewed - I will be looking for Olde Peninsula next time I am in Kalamazoo.

This was poured from the tap at the brewpub. It has a nice dark amber color with a decent head and okay retention. It has a definite hop aroma with some maltiness. The flavor is very spicy, earthy hop flavor. The malt is subdued, but present. The hop finish is very nice. It has a medium body with low carbonation.
A good IPA, a bit too strong, both with regard to hops and alcohol for drinking pint after pint, but enjoyable. Otherwise, it's a pretty standard IPA.

A dry-hopped IPA, but not much else.
Amber-orange body with a little head and lacing. Basically smells and tastes just like hops with a little sweetness and malt profile. The aroma is good and strong, but like the rest of this beer, it lacks complexity. Kind of reminds me of a DIPA, but lighter, for its strong hops focus.
If you like dry-hopped beers, check this out.
