Poured from a 650 ml bottle into a standard pint.

A: Cloudy, golden hue. Pours a giant, foamy, white head. Settles slowly leaving giant peaks, valleys, craters, and lots of dry sticky residue. Plenty of dry, sticky lacing.

S: Raspberry, wheat, and lavender are prominent.

T: Fresh flora, including grass and lavender, with a slight fruitiness.

M: Light, crisp, and fruity.

D: Drink at will, but a slightly steely finish.

Atmosphere is pretty good. Nice coloration, really nice head, ad plenty of lacing. Nose is really full...fruit and flora. Flavor is wheaty, fruity, and flowery. Overall, this is a good quaff.

Reviewed from notes from our annual Sour/Saison tasting on 05/04.

A- Tulip glass with semi-hazy golden yellow body. Foamy fine bubbled head that is white with about one finger in height. Decent retention and a foamy ring leaves some webs of thinner lace.

S- Very floral aroma as the name might suggest with coriander and peppercorn shining as well as general spicy, grassy hints. Light biscuit, caramel. Orange citrus is big.

T- Main flavors are of orange juice/peel and spices like coriander and peppercorns. Lemon zest also big with a pretty herbal and floral feel overall. Slight sweetness.

MF- Lighter end body with bubbly high end carbonation. Slight bitterness in the finish with a fairly creamy, silky feel.

Orange and spice forward but a good amount of flavor out of the yeast strain. Juicy citrus with time and warmth.

(Served in a tulip glass)
Bottled 6/8/12
A- This beer pours a slightly hazy golden-yellow body with a trail of microbubbles and a dense cobweb of buttercream head.

S- The hints of saison yeast have some nice farmhouse ester with more of a clove phenol growing in the finish. There is a pleasant soap quality in the finish aswell.

T- The slight tart note fades to a soft saison yeasty flavor that takes on some dry bubble gum character and a spicy green hop note in the finish. There is a ripe fruit ester and clove flavor in the slightly dry finish.

M- This beer has a light mouthfeel with a tight spicy fizz that enhances the spice in the taste.

O- The soft yeast character has a bit more clove flavor than ester yeast character which I would prefer the other way around. The hops are nice and I wish this wasn’t 1 year old.

22oz bottle poured into a Duvel tulip.

A: Pours a hazy golden-orange with a creamy white head. Retention is excellent, and rings and globs of lacing stick everywhere.

S: Very yeasty and spicy on the nose. Chalk, dash of confectioner's sugar, white pepper and spices. A touch musty. Hops are mildly floral and spicy. Malt scents of baked bread underneath.

T: As in the nose, this beer is very yeast-forward on the attack. Very spicy, hints of white pepper, subtle chalk and a touch earthy. Citrusy and floral hops muscle through on the mid-palate and bring bold flavors of orange pith, wildflowers, and a slight herbal spice. Bitterness is slightly sharp for the style. Mild tropical esters are hard to detect. Malt tastes of musty bread and biscuit barely register. The hops calm down a bit and the yeast begins to come out again toward the finish. Finishes with a fading tide of oily and somewhat citrusy hops and musty, chalky yeast.

M: Medium bodied. Highly effervescent with a prickling, scrubbing carbonation. A slight enamel-clinging feel from the hops. Creamy.

O: A pretty decent saison that has been augmented with a bolder hop addition. A good choice if you crave something a little different, but still want the hops.

A: Pours an amazingly hazed golden/orange color. A two finger white head forms with good retention. Spiderweb like lace is left behind. I love the color and lacing.
S: A bit muted in the nose. A musky funk up front, with some nice fruity esters. Banana, phenolic spice, light sweetness. Very nice.
T: This is were it shines. There is a great Belgian musky funky that I love. Certainly not Brett or any of the other buzz words. Just old fashioned earthy, rustic goodness. A bit of sweetness, and a nice fruity ester compliment. Bananas, clove, phenolic spice, but with a dry finish.
M/D: A medium body and carbonation. Crisp and smooth. There is an initial sweetness, but finished with an amazing dry bite. Very easy to sip on. The bottle is gone in no time.

A very good Saison. I am glad I found this. A great American example of a the style. Something I would highly recommend.

Appearance 3.5- Beer was a a very foamy golden unfiltered look

Smell 3.5-Beer had nice flowery and typical saison notes

Taste-4.0- Great typical saison with flowery citrusy flavors that don't appear too sweet like many others.

Mouthfeel 3.0- Felt very average but smooth and great drinkability.

Overall- Typical saison, nothing too over powering and very tasty, I love this out of a local brewery being from the Boston area myself.
