Appearance: Arrives with a clear amber color capped modestly; while there was a copious amount of lacing, the retention was not great
Smell: Balanced between the caramel and pine, with faint onion and aspirin elements
Taste: The bready, caramel malt flavors underpin the profile from start to finish; the hops play a complementary role, bringing pine and some pith, along with the onion and aspirin elements
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation
Overall: Nicely balanced with an unusual hop profile; normally, I prefer more citrus but this was still rather good

Had this one at the source! Served from tap into a NoDa shaker. Poured a golden yellow-orange with a two finger slightly off-white head that subsided to a half finger very slowly. Maintained phenomenal lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, earth, earth hop, and spice. The flavor was of sweet malt, earth, earth hop, and spicy hop. It had a light feel on the palate with high carbonation. Overall this was a fairly good brew. I was hoping for a lot more out of this one if I am honest. Unfortunately it wasn’t overly complex and seemed to be dominated by an earthy note more than the hoppiness. Too bad. However, with that said, it was still rather easy to drink my shaker while hanging out at the brewery. NoDa is doing some good stuff, but this isn’t their best brew of the style out there. Worth trying if you drop into the brewery for a brew or two.
