Purchased a 12oz bottle from the Beer Box in Tijuana and poured it into a pint glass.
Written on the bottle: "Cerveza Obscura Con Suaves Notas de Piloncillo - Estilo London Brown"
A: Pours an unfiltered dark chestnut hue with no head and no lacing what so ever.
S: Pretty light overall, but what comes through is sweet carmel, toasted grain, bread dough, and a faint hint of hop.
T: Very nutty, lightly sweet but the piloncillo flavor (unrefined sugar commonly used in Mexican cooking) is noticeable - similar to brown sugar and molasses but unique in its own way, earthy hop - grassy and mossy which is mellow but lends to the overall flavor nicely.
M: Medium bodied, extremely under carbonated - almost none at all actually - something went wrong with this batch in regards to the carbonation.
Overall a super tasty brown ale, especially with the piloncillo added in the brewing process - real unique and flavorful. Unfortunately this batch is flat which really takes away from every aspect. Get the carbonation right and this could be a world class beer.
