Poured from a bomber into a tumbler pint, the beer is a dark brown-to-black coloring that had a thin look upon pouring. No head whatsoever on this one. Aromas of bitter chocolate and tangy sweet old world fruit. Almost a richness to the nose. Flavors are a bit more heavy on the old world fruit sweetness, with heavy overtones of plum. The sweetness almost overtakes all of the other flavor profiles. A subtle backbone of roasted coffee tries to balance, but is ultimately overshadowed. The aftertaste is darkly sweet, with a late developing bitter chocolate profile. The beer is very thin in mouth, but does well to support the robust and strong flavors. Overly sweet, slightly cloying finish. Different take on the style, and tasty, but a bit out of balance, which builds as you drink.

22oz bottle purchased at Tully's in Wells, Maine. Pours an opaque black body with a quarter inch of light tan head. Aroma consists of dark chocolate and espresso. Dark chocolate and espresso hits the palate initially, with nut and caramel notes toward the finish. Medium bodied with low carbonation. Different than others I've tried in the style. Heavy on the coffee. Robust and tasty.

500ml bottle: This one pours a dark, inky brown color. There was very little tan head on it, and it left no lacing. The aroma is nice. Chocolate malts, some roastiness. The taste is also pretty good. Medium bodied, chocolate and roastiness. Nice balance between the two. A very decent porter.

A: deep dark color, near opaque but with some ever-so-slight copper hues through the darkness, poured with a full tan-colored head
S: medium nose, clean, deep roasted malt
T: well-made, rich roasted malt and chocolate, true to type
M: rounded, velvety, and highly drinkable, seemed a bit thin in finish but it might be due to extreme smoothness of lagering

This is a good porter. Jet black, with a wonderful smoky coffee nose. The lager style pairs surprisingly well with this malty brew. Not much chocolate, but the coffee flavors are very well balanced. Hearty, but very drinkable, I will be enjoying this beer all winter!

Dark brown pour with 1.5 finger dark chocolate cream head. Not much in the way of retention and only mild lace.

Nose is light chocolate and light roast coffee. Roasted walnuts sneak in there, too.

Flavor is very traditional. Lighter chocolate and coffee, with a shot of vanilla cream. Nutty sweets in the finish. More vanilla comes in late. Nicely done.

Feel is very creamy and smooth. Best aspect of the beer.

Overall, a nice example of the style.

Into a nonic:

A: dark black colored body that yields a very nice one finger off-white/tan head appears and lasts for a good minute before dieing into the body. The body is too dark for any carbonation to be seen rising. Moderate light lacing is left here and there, slightly spider-webby.

S: chocolate in front with some dark roasted coffee beans and caramel malts nicely situated within the beer itself.

T: pretty much the same smells combined very nicely in a smokey sort of way.

M: smooth, yet heavy and feels great on my tongue.

O: I actually didn't know this was going to be good. I think I got it just to try a Baltic Porter, but I think this is going to be a beer I'd go back very quickly. This makes a very nice dessert beer with nothing else needed to go along with it.

Bottle from recent Maine trip. Not totally the style. Black and lacey. Licorice, nuts, yeasty fruit, coffee. Finishes like a Baltic but way too sweet (caramel, sugar, creme) until then.A lot of ideas thrown in to the mash. OK drinkability, and mineral water yes.

16.9 oz bottle was poured into an imperial pint glass.

Appearance: The beer poured a small mocha head that has reduced to a thin layer. It is pitch black with no clarity or visions of clarity even when held up to a light. Pretty standard for a baltic porter.

Smell: roasty, mocha, bready, and sweet malts. You also pick up some dark fruit aromas like plums and raisins. Some booze on the nose too.

Taste: All the above mentioned aromas. I picked up some smokey notes in thereand some acidity too like the style suggests. Tastes better as the beer warm up to room temperature.

Mouthfeel: smooth, full bodied, a little boozey, medium carbonation, and a nice sipper.

Overall: A nice addition to the baltic porter family of beers. Solid beer and wouldn't mind trying this one on draft next time up in the Portland area.

Pours a one finger light tan head that vanishes leaving no lace. Black color, no highlights, some yeast left in bottle. Very light carbonation and medium-heavy bodied. Caramel malt nose and flavor is caramel and chocolate malt. Not enough carbonation. $7.00 for a 500ml bottle from Madden Beverage Saco, Me.

Dark, deep brown going into black. Fluffy tan head on top.

Thick, rich malt aroma. Fresh baked brown bread with some spicyness, coffee and chocolate scents.

A pop of dark malt flavor up front. Roasty bitterness, baking chocolate and dark roast coffee.

Smooth and luxurious on the palate, thick but not sticky. Washes away cleanly with some crispness. Lingering coffee and semi-sweet chocolate flavors.

This brew embraces the richness of roasted malt flavors. Layers of dark malt that drift between chocolate and coffee without becoming too sweet or too bitter. Great example of the style, definitely check this one out if you enjoy a rich, dark beer that isn't overloaded with coffee or bitter roasted malt. It pays homage to the complexity of roasted grain.

Bull Jagger Baltic Porter pours a flat black into the glass with no foam or lace.

The aroma is rich, malty and earthy. Chocolate and roasted malt blend nicely with an earthy nuttiness. Some dark fruit and medicinal alcohol is also present.

Each sip of this medium to full bodied beer is soft and creamy on the palate with minimal carbonation. The flavor begins with chocolate and toffee. In the middle some dark fruit and roasted malt appear. It finishes dry with mildly bitter and grassy flavors. Once gone the roasted malt and toffee lingers on the palate.

Lots of flavor in this beer emerges as the beer warms. The flat look isn't appealing, but the flavor is fantastic and that's all that counts.
