Served in a snifter at Local Option.
If absolutely nothing else can be said about them, AtG does have some of the best names in the business. This stuff pours a deep ruby-brown topped by a finger of cream foam. The nose comprises dark smoke, dark fruits, lightly-buttery toffee, a hint of wood, and some vague dark greens. The taste brings in more of the same, with the smoke now seeming more peat-like and the fruits leaning more toward the black cherry (though still holding some of the others in there as well). The body is a solid medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a near-chewy feel. Overall, a solid smoked Scotch ale, though a bit heavy on the peat at times.

A: Pours a gorgeous ruby with a creamy, lingering khaki mousse.
S: Aromas of cherry, woodsmoke, heavy cream, vanilla bean, cocoa, and caramel are present on the nose.
T: A smooth, creamy entry reveals notes of sweet cherry, woodsmoke, caramel, toffee, vanilla bean, cocoa, coffee, heavy cream, and mild peat. The finish is rich, sweet, and punchy with cherry, cocoa, vanilla, and peat notes underscored by mellow alcohol.
M: Fairly full in body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is gentle and unobtrusive. Alcohol presence is minimal. This one can definitely sneak up on you if you're not careful.
O: This is a nice Scotch ale. The use of cherry smoked malt gives this ale a slightly different and instantly appealing flavor profile that separates it from the myriad smoked beers employing alder and/or beechwood smoked malt. Really nicely done.
