Now this was truly an experience, one of which was one across a broader scope than beer. Place was easy to find, which stuck out like a sore thumb in this little town. Considering its remoteness, I pondered on what explorers thought as they passed across the topographic landscape for visual enlightenment, and they this was truly the Chimney Rock for my manifest destiny.
Sat down and was waited on. Ordered a buffalo burger and fries, and while waiting had a variation of a porter which to this day I'm unsure was ever bottled. Then naturally had to have a Ten Fidy on draft. The food came and wow. I remember I had the Sante Fe version, and the sandwich was so thick I could barely get my mouth around it. When I finished, I had wished I wore a bib because guacamole was everywhere. Went down to the basement and found a whole bar, which was virtually a blues club. A band was to play that night but I didn't stick around. There even was an arcade there in case some little Schroeder was tempermental to bid his time.
As good as Avery was as a brewpub experience and brewery, this was as good as the broad micro-Applebys experience. And when I say good in both instances, I say great. If you want good beer and good food... and have a family for that matter (with a designated driver) this is the premier choice I have seen. PERFECT SCORE.

Ok so I've been here for my birthday, college graduation, everytime family is in town, as well as anytime I without a doubt want great drink and food. Atmosphere is always great. Great rock and blues bands frequent the upstairs rockout room. Downstairs is quite large with an extended outdoor seating area as well. The partial wrap around bar is solid.
The best breweries from across the US on tap, RR, DFH, Odell's, Avery, Green Flash etc... are on tap, but you really need to look no further than what OB offers.
The food is what blows my mind even more about this place. Its Southern. My sexy wife is from Louisiana and this is "some of the best southern food she's ever had". The best chicken wings (made with their beers and spicy all the way up to ghost chilis), Oyster/shrimp Po Boys, Pizza, Fried Pickles, mussels, and the list goes on. The food is like this, you've had it and like it somewhere before, well it is much better here. Really everything feels gourmet.
A lot of beer, a lot of food, and the only down side is this, it is a bit pricey. Not a ton, but you are getting nothing but quality so you do have to support their cause with your wallet.

Oskar Blues is not what i expected. Kinda of strip mall meets Nawlins bar meets mountian town meets brewery, or a mutt.
Upstairs has House Of Blues-esque folk art with handmade tables and a crossword puzzle ceiling menu. Very friendly, but a little closed in with low roof. lots of tables and space.
The menu is extensive, catering to comfort foods and leaning to the cajun side. I had the gumbo and was disappointed with its flavors, apparently we are too far away from bourbon street for overpowering spices and intense flavors in the food. The beers are the opposite, all about big flavors and breaking conceptions.
Downstairs houses over 30 retro arcade games, great for the boys.
the beers are excellent, and diverse. Eight beers on tap, much more selection then is canned and distributed.
the distro beers
Dales - Great Fresh, very crisp and citrusy grapefruit and lemons. great sweet malt body. Stands up well to the spicy food offered by the restaurant.
Gordons - Not your typical over the top Imp. IPA. Much sweeter with relativity subdued hops. this beer is very sweet. Good caramel and strawberry (?) tones. This beer is one that could easily sneak up on you.
Ten Fidy - Imp Stout Hoppy Malty High Alchohol Motor Oil. I don't think i have every had a beer this black and opaque. Literally zero light gets through this beer, even in direct sunlight. Very big in every way, not for girly-men. I think i actually grew hair on my chest during the sampling.
Old Chub - Scottish Style. This is a HUGE MALTY BEER EXPERIENCE! Way sweet, way alcohol, way red. not my favorite style, but a big example in a spectrum of big examples. If this is you style this is your beer.
Mamas Lil Yellow pils. Not the chick Beer (sorry gateway beer) i expected. Great hops in nose and in body, incredible mouthfeel and apricot sweet finish. Very good Pils, great summer beer.
Bad Bad Leroy Brown. the most quaffable beer on the menu. Greaty nutty brown flavors. Good balance and finish. this woudl be the beer you would buy a six pack of and take camping. If there is such a thing as comfort beer, this is it.
Velvet Elvis Stout - Just a dry stout. On any other sampler this beer would be exceptional, but compared to the other big beers this beer pales in mouthfeel and finish. very thin but crisp. I am sure this would be ok or even good on its own.
ALTitude - this is a great beer perfect balance and hops, terrific color and caramel maltiness. Works great with any food, and stands up to big tastes like gumbo and red beans and rice.
Look, if you are any where near Lyons, CO you need to stop here, you will not be disappointed. I think Oskar Blues found the perfect place to challenge beer norms and introduce food styles.

This is probably my favorite Colorado brewpub and not just because they have such awesome brews. I actually enjoy the scenic drive from Boulder to Lyons. The bar is nice and located downstairs (never been upstairs). they usually have a guest tap or two along with their awesome brews. The food is really good and spicy. The service is pretty good. My favorite thing is their patio. It is perfect for enjoying a nice brew in the summertime but bring your shades and sunscreen. The growler fills are pretty reasonable at around $8 for Dale's and old Chub and I think $9 for Gordon.

This review is for the Longmont location.
Atmosphere: The giant Dale's Pale Ale can made this one easy to spot from the Diagonal Highway. Walking in there was the smell of BBQ and an open, lodge-like setting.
Quality: Ridiculously good. The food was outstanding and the wide array of Oskar Blues offerings and guest beers was impressive. I had the barrel aged Barleywine and it was outstanding. The two pounds of wings were nice and spicy and the cheesy mac is an absolute must as a side.
Service: Our waiter was very knowledgeable and even though he was clearly busy he was able to provide good, timely and professional service. The one time he couldn't get back to the table, the manager picked up his slack and dropped off our drinks before sticking around for ten minutes or so to talk beer and provide us a few samples of his favorites. This place very clearly has its stuff together.
Selection: The menu is extensive and provides something for everyone and the beer selection is tough to beat. There were maybe 12 or so Oskar Blues offerings, four of which I had never seen before (although I am from out of state) and about 20-30 guest beers.
Food: The beer is the star of the show at Oskar Blues, but I would still eat here even if they didn't have the amazing beer selection that they do. The food is worth the trip, which makes it a good place to bring anyone, even your Macro-swill sipping buddies.

Oskar Blues is an amazing place. It's a well run establishment with a pleasant wait staff and bartenders. The food is just okay. I don't recommend the pizza, pasta or soup dishes, but the sandwiches and burgers are quite tasty. Their beers are big & bold, from Dales to Old Chub to Gordon to Ten Fidy, but if bold beers arn't your thing or families thing, you can order a Bud Light or a guest beer and not be treated like an asshole. The best part is the atmosphere and mostly, the 80's arcade in the basement. About 20 arcade games including Super Mario Brothers, Galaga and Ms. Pac Man. I have been to a couple music nights and they are outstanding. Overall, Oskar Blues is a great place. A place I always take my guests.

Stopped by the Lyon, CO location on a trip to Boulder for work. Tucked away in a hole-in-the-wall mountain town, it is easy to find on Main St.
I loved the decor in the restaurant. Great decorations and warm feel to the building. I sat upstairs to eat, but there is a blues bar in the basement.
Had a glass of Ten Fidy on draft for only $3, and also had a NY strip steak. Throw in a HUGE slab of chocolate dump cake (really, enough for three people) and the total bill with tip was only $30.
I'll definitely make the effort to come out here again on my next trip out.

I visited Oskar Blues Brewery and Restaurant on March 10 for the AHA membership rally. I have to say right off the bat that things were a little out of the ordinary because of the AHA rally but everything was great.
We were privy to free beer samples all day, so I sampled every beer they had to offer. I dont think I found a beer that I was disappointed in.
We later made our way out for some free food and it was delicious. Dale had made beer can chicken with Old Chub and Dales Pale Ale that was to die for. They were also offering jambalaya and crawfish which was also exceptional.
I later hooked up with Dale for a some what of a 1 on 1 tour of the brewery and was able to quiz him about this homebrew days. This guy is a real genuine, funny guy with lots of great stories. The thing I liked best about the brewery is the Fountain of Truth this is an old water fountain that has been converted to accept a keg instead of water. Nothing hits the spot like a big cold shot of Ten Fidy right out of the water fountain.
He also gave us some info about the Blues Bus service that they offer. Apparently if you get 10 or more of your people together and book a dinner reservation, then hell send a bus to you place of pick up at no charge. You go up have dinner and some spectacular beers, maybe stay for some live blues music and then they bring you back. Sounds like fun to me. I booked a trip for later in April.
Although my visit was not under normal operations I have to say Dale runs a tight ship. Service was excellent, food was excellent and we had a shit load of fun. I would suggest a trip up to Lyons, especially when they have some live music.

Very good Cajun bar food that soaks up loads of even better beer from one of the finest American crafters. Laid back vibe in the dinning room, with lots of kitchy crap on the walls. The Elvis is statue is typical. Cool gritty bar down stairs where the bands play, and they also have one the best collections of mid 1980s stand up arcade games I've seen in years: original Elevator Action, Gorf, and Q-bert just to name a few!
Totally cool people working there! Service was great, and an impromptu tour was granted. Thanks a ton to everyone!
The beers are amazing, the place is fun and relaxed, and its 20 min. outside of Rocky Mountain Natl. Park.
Go, its a must see for beer geeks.

Oskar blues is a small town in the middle of nowhere. My buddy and I went there for dinner after getting a recommendation from a bartender at a taproom of a local brewery. There are two levels, downstairs is a bar and the upstairs is the restaurant. The atmosphere was very interesting, with many decorations all over the place, they had a big Elvis manikin a deer head and all kins of other things in random places. At first it looks kind of creepy but it actually all works out pretty well. The food tasted great and the service was really good. We got a flight of eight beers and I like all but one of them. Over all vary good food and beer. The Ten Fidy was particularly good. The prices were pretty good too!
