Pint at Owen and Engine in Chicago. Deep apricot color, a bit hazy with average head and lacing. Aroma was more orange, citrusy than pine for me, with some malty sweetness.

Taste was better than aroma led me to believe. Very nice body, with slight caramel sweetness, but not too much and not in the finish. Wish I could get in Indy.

After four years and over a hundred beer tried, we expanded the man cave to add a two tap system. Dales was picked . Poured deep yellow, with small head. Fair lacing floral and pine notes, with a citrus finish. Full flavored pale ale.

Bought in a sixtel served at 38 degrees received a 11 out of 20 in our beer club. I gave it a 14 myself.

Had at a local establishment on tap. Appearance was a hazy amber to honey color with an of white head. Head held for a short time with some lacing. Aroma was light and of flower and malt. Taste was maly with a hint of pine and slight hop on the back. Mouthfeel was full and clean. Aftertaste was hoppy and lasted a bit. Something I could drink all night.

Had on tap at a local bar.

Appearance- Pours a dark gold/light brown with a one-finger off white head.

Smell- I mostly got citrus-y hops that really smell of grapefruit.

Taste- Grapefruit flavor for sure; tart citrus-y hop flavors. Light and refreshing with a bitter hoppy aftertaste.

Mouthfeel- Had a medium body with a fair amount of carbonation; refreshing.

Overall- A good beer. I usually don't go for IPAs but this one was a pleasant surprise.

had this on tap at the 45th Street Tap House in Ocean City, MD. my favorite on-tap beer. if you like IPAs, APAs, or even pale ales, please try this

color is amber to deep amber

head is very good, stacks up and laces down

smell is mostly hops, piney and citrus, but balances at the end of a long draw

taste is a hops assault. hammers you. leans towards the citrus side, but also pine and resin hints

texture is nice, it's carbonated very well and feels full in your mouth

overall, if you are are hop head, this is for you. try it!

On 9/14 on draft at the Sweet Grass Dairy Cheese Shop.

A - Hazy burnt orange with a thick, sticky head.

S - Turpentine, grapefruit, and soap.

T - Bitter Citrus, piney hops, robust honey.

M - Medium bodied with good carbonation

O - Decent pale ale. It's a lot smoother on draft than when I had it in a can. The hops aren't to overpowering which allows it to smooth over.

Had on-tap at Mellow Mushroom in Myrtle Beach. Honey colored with a finger of off-white head that reduced to a thin layer pretty quickly, but it stayed throughout the drink and had some lacing. Slightly piney, citrusy nose up front. Malty/bready notes were in there. Malt sweetness up front on the taste that gave way to a hop (piney/herbal) bitterness in the middle and citrus on the finish. Some bitterness lingered and it was semi-dry.

Had on tap at Emerson's Ale House. Served in a shaker pint.

A: Pours a clear golden yellow color with a nice white head forming on the pour. It recedes to a thin ring and leaves some soapy lace down the glass.

S: Light biscuity malts with some caramel sweetness. Dried grass and a light, fruity sweetness round it out.

T: Really follows the nose. There's a tad more bitterness on the finish in the taste, but still nice.

M: Light bodied with a clean finish. Nice medium carbonation.

O: Pretty solid overall, but it's nothing special. Definitely an easy drinking beer and the fact that comes in cans is definitely a plus.

Color was orangish with some froth
Smelled of biscuit and smelled of pine. Taste is pretty big for a pale ale. Strong malty caramel favors. Somewhat earthy flavor otherwise. Mouth is a medium body but sticky and sweet with a strong bitter finish that leaves the mouth dry. This beer bridges a gap between an ipa and a pa. I would drink again.

On tap at PJ Whelihan's in Medford, NJ. Served in a shaker.

Pour: Clear copper with a finger of off white head. Nice lacing.

Smell: Pretty light cirtus, with a bready caramel sweetness.

Taste: Bready malt forward, caramel, light citrus, light grassy hops. Meh.

Mouthfeel: Really light, but too bready on the taste which diminished this one's drinkability.

Overall: Forgettable. Won't get again

A: Copper color. Nice head, settles to a steady blanket with lacing lasting the whole session

S: sweet and malty accented by some floral hops on the back end

T: Bready with alot of malt favors balanced by some floral notes from hops on the back. Tastes more like a hybrid IPA/pale ale.

M: Medium body. Pretty solid feel for this beer. Very well balanced

O: really nice beer to session. Te malt and hops aren't overwhelming and they actually complement eachother really nicely. Well balanced pale ale with some nice hoppy complements on the back.

Pours a beautiful golden amber with a half finger white head that dissipates quickly leaving minimal lacing.

The nose is sweeter than i expected with biscuit malts being the first thing i notice. Theres a little bit of a floral hoppiness underneath.

The taste brings out the hops moreso than the nose, but they dont dominate. Floral hops and a biscuit/bready malt make it almost seem like it would be chewy, but it is not.

Very well balanced and incredibly smoothe. Immenently drinkable.

I was impressed. Not usually big on pales, but this one is tasty.

Appearance is copper with a finger of head that does not linger very long. Mild fresh hop nose is passable, but not impressive. The malt profile is more reminiscent of and ESB than an APA. The finish is thin and flat. My first taste of an Oskar Blues offering - kind of a bummer

Served in a tumbler at Wild Wings Cafe. From notes. Reviewed 5 July 2011.

A: A finger of tight white head. Coppery-clear. Faint bubbles. Pretty much what I expected.

S: Very fruity! Grapefruit juice (from concentrate). Sweet, bready malts, nice hops. I really like it.

T: A pretty nice pale ale. Malty-round with a hoppy-bitter finish. Not obviously excellent, but a superlative example of the style.

M: Malty and robust with a tad of drying hops. I like it.

O: One of the better Pale Ales I've ever consumed. Drinkable, enjoyable, and likely to find wide appeal. Recommended; will definitely drink again.

oskar blues flagship brew. now widely proliferated this beer pours a thick amber honey color with a one inch white head that lasts. smells more like an ipa than a pale ale, but has a defined malt strength that i guess qualifies it. taste is quite hoppy too, crisp and satisfying. has a pine and cut grass earthiness to it. mouthfeel is pleasant and smooth, but the heavier body can be filling. this is a versatile beer and a good every day drinker, but i find it works particularly well with spicy foods of the southwest.

Served on-draught into a non-imperial pint glass in high altitude Denver, Colorado. Reviewed from notes. Paired with an elk burger and some french fries.

A: Pours a one finger head of slight cream, decent thickness, and average retention. Colour is a clear copper.

Sm: Light hops and slight cream. A very light aroma.

T: Nicely hoppy, crisp, and pleasant, but lacking full flavour or complexity. It isn't layered, but features some light cream lacing undertones. Very light toasted malt. The finish isn't too bitter (fortunately). Built decently well, and balanced nicely.

Mf: Smooth and wet, with enough coarseness on the climax to bring out the flavours. Complements the flavour generally.

Dr: Drinkable and pleasant, but far from exemplary.

A: Bright orange hazy color with a nice sized head. Cream colored rocky head fades to a thin lace on top, as well as down the sides.

S: Citrus and pine hops with a nice sweet malt aroma coming through as well.

T: Mmm .. nice malt and citrus flavors, with a slightly creamy mouthfeel. Citrusy flavor with a decent malt background - definitely predominately hops though.

M: excellent in the mouth, creamy smooth, very drinkable.

O: Wow - Perfectly fine beer, if they didn't say APA it would be an IPA for me! Watch out these will sneak up on you, so good it's easy to have three or four!

taste is hop dominated, but with just enough malt to balance it out. mouthfeel is slightly sticky, with smooth carbonation. medium body.

You'd think after being into craft beer for a few years that I would have had (or remembered having) Dale's Pale Ale. To my best recollection, this is the first time. Served on draft into a standard pint glass at the Lucky Lab Tavern.

A: Golden honey/amber colored body with a fluffy white head. As it settled, a thin ring formed but did leave really thick patches of lacing on the walls. Nice looking beer for the style, the copious amounts of retention and lace surprised and impressed me.

S: Floral hops come out big on the nose, along with some sweet caramel notes, honey and grass. The hop varieties seem very wet in nature, and not as citrusy as I was anticipating. It's somewhat of a more earthy and resiny aroma. Bitter orange peel comes in at the back end when this warmed a bit.

T: Light touches of bitter hop flavors - piney and very floral. Not much citrus again, but a bitter citrus oil flavor is here, more orange and grapefruit peel than anything else. It's nicely broken up with a deep malt base, light and caramel malts. Not overly abrasive or under flavored, very nicely balanced.

M: Crisp, bubbly, clean with a suitable medium body for the style. Nothing is really wrong with it, and it makes this beer go down extremely smoothly.

Well, even for a guy who doesn't like Pale Ales, this was good. It did seem a bit more bitter than standard Pale Ales (and I've heard a troubled classification of this beer), but judging for what it is, it's pretty good. Easily one of the better beers I've had in the style.

My first time drinking this was in a can. For some reason, I seem to like drinking this on tap. To be fair, my first time drinking was when I was tubing down the river and I ended up getting hammered in the hot weather.

That being said, I do enjoy this beer. my review's very subjective, obviously. The beer had an amber hue with pine scent emanating a bit strongly.

The taste was all right. It was hoppy, but there's doesn't seem to be anything unique about this beer. The mouthfeel is just fine. I just realized that this is probably not suited for tubing, but maybe around campfire if you want to really take your time drinking a pale ale.

Review from notes taken on 9/5/11. On tap at World of Beer Fort Myers. Poured into a Smuttynose pint glass.

Pours a light caramel brown with a 1 finger off-white head. Nice lacing.

Smell: Sweet caramel with floral and citrus hops.

Taste: Floral hops up front followed by caramel malt in the middle before ending with bitter citrus and a touch of black pepper at the finish. Aftertaste is bitter.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a decent amount of carbonation.

Drinkability: High drinkability. You could drink a few without much difficulty.

Overall: Very good beer overall. I am a big fan of Oskar Blues and Dale's is one of my favorites. Definitely worth a shot.

On Tap

Churchill's Pub & Grille
San Marcos, CA

Bright orange and amber with a thin white head. Some lines of lacing down the glass, but not an overly thick or sticky beer.

A citrus-forward aroma, mainly consisting of orange and grapefruit, a hint of pine, and a bready malt hint.

Citrus-forward and bitter pale ale, rounded out nicely by caramel malt, though there's an unfortunate soapy flavor that's preventing me from loving this beer.

Medium mouthfeel. Ample carbonation.

A good pale ale, though admittedly, a little disappointing after falling head over heels in love with Oskar Blues Ten Fidy.

Arrives a rich, clear orange color, bright and shiny. Off-white head gives way to a thickisj folm. Some lace left behind.
Smell is hops with some light citrus and pepper.
Taste is hoppier than expected, more like an IPA. Some malt and pepper show up as well.
Sharp effervescence up front with a dry finish. Medium body and a somewhat full carbonation. Can't get over the fact that this brew is really an IPA and not a pale ale. Higher marks if labeled as such.

Had on tap in a pint glass, review from notes:

Okay, when I drank this from the cans I was pretty impressed, but it was even better fresh on tap. The hops were even more present and this was basically an IPA.

The color was a nice copperish color with a white head which left good lacing down the entire glass with every sip. The smell was mostly of hops with a little caramel malts in the back. The feel was medium to light with lots of hop resin coating. The taste was great, even better than I remember (and I remember it being good), you get a little caramel malts up front but a load of bitter pine hops on the way down and a nice hoppy lingering after taste. This stuff is excellent, I actually prefer this over both of their actual (official) IPAs, heck, it might even be my favorite Oskar product, excellent beer.
