355ml can poured into tulip 8/4/13
A clear golden yellow with a few streams of slow bubbles with a few big speedy ones, thumbs width of off white foam quickly falls to a thick film and leaves a few thick squiggly rings of lace
S orange and tangerine peel, a little pine, some sweet toffee and slight floral notes, some lemony citrus and orange sherbert with a very faint hint of soap but it somehow works well
T more rind then flesh, slightly more toffee and pine, a faint metallic aspect I couldn't place, not sure why but I get just a little bubblegum but everything works just not quite as nice as the nose
M medium bodied and stops just short of creamy, a little gritty on the gums and a mild bitter bite, lingering rind finish
O I'd never guess it's 6.5%, drinks like a session ale and its very well rounded, I'd get buzzed before I got board of this one, pretty solid brew
I like it and I'm stoked that Oskar Blues has entered our market but I'd have a hard time buying this again when its 17$ a 6er, I'm grooving on it but I'd take Red Racer or Lagunitas Sucks for the same price

Pours clear golden. Great head/lacing.
Smell is melon, papaya, green jungle. Very fresh and aromatic. Malty goodness.
Taste gives more melony hops. Very strongly bittered. Good stuff..
Mouthfeel is smooth, creamy, and bitter.
This stuff is way too easy to drink, even though it could have been served a smidgeon colder (my mistake). Very good.

This beer is light and crisp but still hoppy. Hoppy but not too bitter. This beer has been around for what seems like forever now but it's stood the test of time. Oskar Blues is the original canned craft beer. At first it seemed like that they were just a novelty beer. "Beer that doesn't suck in a can!", but it really is a great drink. Now everyone is trying to mimic their canning, most notably 21st Amendment.

12 fl oz. can, bottom of the can says canned on 12/26/2012. Excited to try this beer, my first Oskar Blue's Dale's Pale Ale, and my second beer from Oskar Blues Brewing Co.
Poured into a Firestone Walker pint glass.
A - Moderate pour yields two fingers of fluffy off-white head on top of a somewhat dark copper colored body. Some nice scattered lacing.
S - Light hops and roasted malts. Light pineapple / mango, tropical fruit sweetness.
T - Talk about balanced. Light muted pine hop bitterness meets toasted malt loveliness. Tea leaf sweetness in the finish. A lovely tasting beer, my ideal pale ale for sure.
M - Feel is dry, hoppy, and bitter, yet smooth and clean at the same time. Very well-balanced body and feel.
Overall, a highly balanced beer. Wondrously hoppy, yet not overly dominant, with a nice malt profile present as well. A pale ale I could drink for days, literally, without tiring of. A pretty perfect year-round beer, one I will be looking into more often.
Oskar Blue's Dale's Pale Ale ---4/5.

Canned date of 01/06/13
Appearance - Pours a semi-hazy golden orange with an off-white, 2 finger head. Fair retention. Lacing is streaky and somewhat spotty, showing nice stick.
Smell - Aroma is moderate, hitting on fair notes of caramel and semi-sweet orange character.
Taste - Moderate caramel flavor upfront. Hops hit mid-taste, bringing along big notes of orange and mellow lemon, then turns a bitter pith near the finish before waning out in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel - Medium in body with fair carbonation. Nice and smooth on the finish, almost buttery going down.
Overall - Really solid pale ale. Assertively hopped. Rides the edge between an APA and an IPA. Not one of the more flavorful or complex pales out there (I'm looking at you New Dogtown and Red Chair), but it's entirely drinkable, and a really good beer all it's own.

From my gf's dad
A&S: Right off the back grapefruit, very powerful grapefruit. Very slight maltiness. Translucent lively orange colored beer. Off-white head that hangs around at a quarter finger level. Great lacing on this one
T&M: Super hoppy upfront again focused in citrus particularly grapefruit. Medium body and carbonation.
Overall: Super drinkable overall great

12oz can bottle poured into pint glass.
A - Semi hazy orange-amber with a 2 finger head.
S - Mild floral and citrus hops with hints of caramel malt.
T - Bright citrus and pine hops backed by bready malts. Finishes with a spicy hop bitterness and sweet malt. Great flavor, nicely balanced.
M - Light-medium body, good carbonation. Crisp, slightly bitter finish.
O - An impressive, balanced pale ale. Extremely drinkable for 6.5% ABV. I only wish I had a few more on hand.

A - A clear copper, with 1/2 a finger of head and just a bit of sticky lace on the glass
S - Wheat malts, and a touch of citrus hops.
T - A great mixture of citrus hops and a big malt backbone. Extremely well balanced. Wheat malts are prevalent in the aftertaste
M - Medium bodied, oily, smooth.
O - An awesome beer in a can. Great for tailgaiting or throwing in the cooler for a day on the lake.

A: Deep orange.Basically a very pretty copper color with white ass head
S: The hop smell is very tamed but at the same time is easily noticeable off the bat. Hints of fresh cut grass and faint citrus.
T: A very well rounded pale ale that delivers nit only a great hop profile with medium bitterness but also great caramel flavors that are complemented by the hops.
M: Light on the tongue and not to dry. Hop presence lingers on back of tongue
O: This is a really wonderful pale ale but not worth the 9.99 price tag in my opinion.

Poured unto a pint glass. (Canned 11/02/2011)
Appearance: Transparent amber, with a 1/4" white head. Head settles after a sip and becomes nothing.
Smell: Smells really good, but pretty bland if you ask me. I smell the hops slight piney feel but wish just a little more potent.
Taste: If you ask me, "pretty d@mn good!", Great balance of hops, little bitterness but super smooth.
Mouth: Medium carbonation, and just right. Hoppy taste after each sip.
Overall: Well put together beer, but just right when you drink it. Sometimes I feel like just "inhaling" the glass. Not you starter beer if you just started drinking but definitely your keeper to keep an above average beer in your fridge for the right price. Salud!

A: This beer pours a nice golden color with a thick head that quickly fades.
S: The beer has a very nice hoppy smell and some sweetness. maybe I am crazy, but I am also getting some kind of malt/chocolate/roasty smell. I cant really pin point it.
T: I am picking up a lot of hops, but not overwhelming. It has some wheat too and the beer is somewhat watery.
M: The beer is very smooth. It has slight carbonation, but nothing bad. It leaves a weird coating feel in the mouth, but isnt bad.
Overall this is a very solid Pale Ale and a great session beer...

Pours an amber color with a white, thick one inch head. Really lingers. Good looking beer.
The smell consists of citrus hops. But not too much, really smells balanced.
Tastes like a weak IPA (I guess thats the point of an APA). Sweet slick malt really matches the touch of citrusy hops. The slick feeling from the oil extract matches the slick malt really well. Very balanced for an ale. Sits light on the tongue, leaving a bitter feeling from the boiled hops.
Very solid, balanced APA. Probably my favorite APA that Ive had to date.

This is one of the few Oskar Blues beers that are available here that I haven't reviewed yet. I am just now getting the Pale Ales out of the way, and there are quite a few that I haven't done yet. Let's give their flag-ship beer a go:
Appearance: Pours a slightly hazy orangish-yellow color with a small 1/8 head of off white foam after a very aggressive pour. The head was back into the beer just after the pour so that there was only a small ring left on top of the beer where it meets the glass.
Aroma: I initially got a healthy dose of fresh American hops giving mostly citrusy notes. There are lots of hops here and are coming out a bit oily even in the nose. There is minimal chalkiness so I think that the hops must not be aggressively reacting with the water. There are some apricot notes coming out as the beer warms up some.
Taste: The flavor is much milder and more approachable than I suspected from the aroma. The body is medium to light with low carbonation, so it comes across as a bit watery on the palate. If it weren't for the relatively aggressive bittering hops, there would be very little to the finish. There is a subtle light caramel sweetness and some toasty notes from the malt that come alive somewhere in the middle of the flavor profile, but then fade back into the hops to make the finish balanced firmly, but not stupidly, toward the bitterness. The alcohol is not noticeable.
Opinion: Overall this is a decent Pale Ale. It pretty much has all of the elements you expect, lots of hops in the nose, and a bitter finish, and there is some malt to partake in too. I imagine that this would be a different beer if the carbonation was at least twice what it is for this example, so on tap it would be a different experience and I may try it someday. As it is, I won't have a problem finishing the six-pack, but I will probably stick to others if I just want to enjoy a Pale Ale.

Darker-side of the caramel spectrum as far as PAs go. Sweet malt, dank hops on the nose. Mmm, nice caramel malt finished from floral hops, a bit of bitterness. Thin to medium. Um yeah, nice PA they put together. Not sure what my overall score is, but my drinkability is a solid 4.0.

Pours copper-amber in color with good clarity. Nice one finger foamy white head featuring various bubble sizes. Head has settled to a thin layer after a few minutes, but there's still some moderate lacing as you drink it.
The aroma is more malty and bready than it is hoppy, but it smells decent enough.
Taste is hoppier than it smells. Pretty balanced overall. This maybe the most balanced Pale that I've ever tried. Not overly malty like English pales, but not as hoppy as say....Southern Tier Pale.
Medium body with moderate carbonation.
I could see myself drinking several while cooking on the grill.
Morey's Bottom Line: This beer goes down easy, and it's tasty too! It's not quite as hoppy as advertised IMO though. Not sure how old this can was, but it's definitely good.

Pours a bright orange colour with a finger of thick white head. As the head dissipates, some lacing on the glass. Nice citrus hops with a very nice bready-caramel malt balance. Some bitterness in the flavour, nice sweetness to the beer. Very balanced pale ale, this could easily be an everyday or dinner beer. Smooth mouthfeel.

This Pale Ale is one of the best I've had. The smell gets you right from get go and sucks you into this experience that will not soon be forgotten. Not as good as Burning River Pale Ale, but more readily available for me, which is a win in my books.

A) Head is 1/3" and bubbly. Very little head retention. The beer is orange with a hint of copper. This may be the orangest pale ale I've seen yet. Pretty clear.
S) Big, piney hops. Resinous. Syrupy sweet malt.
T) Not as sweet as you expect. It smells like a DIPA on the barleywine end of the spectrum but it is lighter than that. A little earthy. Big hop flavor and a nice balance really. This is a bigger APA.Citrusy, mild grape fruit. Solid smack of bitter in the end that sticks around. Definitely fruity.
M) A little sticky. Solid-medium mouthfeel.
D) I enjoy it but it isn't something I would drink one after another. It's just a bigger apa with some sweetness to it.
Using A)S)T)M)D) helps me think about a beer but I'm getting to the point where I might stop using it and I might comment less on the drinkability.

Pours a clear copper color with a one-finger off-white head. The head recedes into a patchy layer on top leaving decent lacing. Smells of lightly toasted and rustic pale malts with floral hops and hints of buttery diacetyl. Tastes similar to how it smells. Pale malts that have a certain graininess in the flavor are joined by herbal and mild citrus hop flavors midway through the sip. As the beer warms the same butteriness that is exhibited in the smell enters the flavor profile however it's not intense enough to be debilitating and may even help pull the flavors together. The ending is mildly bitter.

Has that typical "craft ale" look to it.
For those who get a stiffy over appearance, the appearance is good.

Mouthfeel and drinkability are also good.

12 oz can with bottled on date of 7-31-09 stamped on bottom.
A: Clear orange pour with 1 inch tight white foam that leaves lots of lacing. Very inviting!
S: Pretty subdued in the nose. Very slight whiff of citrus hops with some caramel maltiness.
T: This strikes a great balance between malt and hop. There's a caramelly almost honey-like malt backbone with some citrus hops riding on top. I remember this having more of a hop presence but where this is about 10 months old, some of the 'hoppiness' may have faded.
M: Very refreshing and slightly drying. Carbonation is light.
D: This is the beer's strong point---I could defintely knock down a 6 of these on a warm summer day. Very smooth and refreshing!
This has been an old standby for me over the past few years. I'm very glad that this is widely available here in Mass. OB has done it again!

Amber with a thin, white head that fades quickly.
Smell is malts up front, with some hops coming in. Faint fruit aromas, including pear, apple, and pineapple.
Taste is malts and bitter hops up front, with the malts fading but carrying about halfway. Bitterness from the hops carries a bit further, and the finish is slight bitter with a faint touch of hops.
Mouthfeel is crisp and light, with a good level of carbonation.
Very Drinkable. Not too exciting, but it's still one that I could drink a few of.

Glass - Sam adams pint
A - pours a cloudy copper color with some light yellow highlights. Lots of bubbly off white foam sit on top.
S - a little muted on the nose but I do get some citrusy hops and some bready malts.
T - a light toast sort of flavor followed by a nice citrus hop profile which carries on through the finish.
M - medium bodied and medium carb.
D - nicely balanced pale ale. I was expecting a little bit more hop intensity but it is very nicely balanced and very flavorful.

Pours a hazy burnt orange, nice creamy head with sticky lacing. Smells of citrus hops, grapefruit, juicyfruit, . Tastes of sweet slightly bready malt with a nice undercurrent of citrus hops. Lots of citrus and a touch of earthy hop flavor. Nice pronounced bitterness leads to a fairly clean finish with just a touch of hop resin. Good moderate carbonation and mouthfeel.
A really nice pale ale, bordering on being an IPA. I really like the hop combo used in this beer, very juicy while still bringing the bitterness. The malt profile matched beautifully, really enjoyed it.
