Surprised I haven't reviewed this from Armsby Abbey or anything, but this time I had it directly from the source, on tap at the brewery itself.

Big creamy head, thick and frothy, fades semi slwoly with great soapy lacing, nice retention, very hazy honey orange color, more like an orange center with golden honey colors around the edges.

Nice is very nice, blond malts, floral citrus, light spices from the yeast maybe?, esters are light, more Belgian malt and yeast characters, faint coriander, maybe some wheat as well, its like a nice blond with a hint of wit blended in.

Taste brings nice Belgian characters again, starting with light golden malts, and almost sweet honey malt character, and even juicy malts. Then the wit comes in again, some orange peel, faint coriander, light wheat flavors, touches of fruity esters, and mild booze warmth. It brings a light vanilla orange taste too. Finish is mild orange peel bitterness, more sweet honey like malts with faint spices lingering, and fairly dry.

Mouth is med bodied, little heavier than med bodied, nice carb, faint hint of light warming booze.

Overall nice beer, cross between blond and wit with the better characters of each coming through, nice taste, dry finish, juicy center.

Well sealed 2008 750 ml corked bottle.

Appearance: Pours a hazy golden color with a sudsy white head that as excellent retention and leaves good lacing

Smell: A fruity banana/lemon/orange/lime with some bready light malts, clove and yeast. Slightly musty. Lots of fine-grained carbonation.

Taste: Mildly tart with noticeable sweetness too. Nicely complex, with hints of lemon, orange, banana and light spices.

Mouthfeel: Light bodied and very effervescent, somewhat like champagne although fuller.

Overall: A gentle but complex beer, with many nuances of aromas and flavors. Recommended.

On tap into a tulip.

A-The brew is golden and hazy with a pretty dense white head that stands about one to one and one-half fingers tall. There is moderate retention and some lacing on the glass as time passes.

S-The smell is a pleasing, but nondescript, mixture of light-colored fleshy fruits, dough and sweetness.

T-The taste follows the smell pretty closely. I get doughy yeast, some banana, light-colored fruits, a bit of bubblegum and a candy sugar. Hops are mild at most. Nothing spectacular, but not offensive, either.

M-The feel on the palate is soft, but the carbonation is noticeable. Weight is medium-body.

O-This is not a bad beer, but not a great one, either. The looks and mouthfeel are high points, but it is a touch sweet and cloying, and could use a little more hop for balance. Still, I err on the sweet side sometimes, so I wouldn't turn this down if someone offered me another.

Style/abv: triple/6%

Smell: green pears, subtle pine sap and herbal notes throughout

Taste: clementines, honeydew, orange cream, dry hops?, and tinges of rose pedals; incredible amounts of yeast dominate throughout

Asides from the above average smell and the beginning of the taste profile, this beers over abundance of unfiltered matter makes it feel like our drinking orang juice with extra pulp; I don't enjoy eating my beer. However, if one can get over the immense yeasty foreground and unfiltered matter, this beer will be The incarnate of God himself

Hitting two Bruges beer legends with one stone; a visit to Brugs Beertje, and a fresh pour of Brugse Zot from its tap. On to the beer:

Toasted caramel color glares from the glass. On top is a head which retains well and leaves a couple rings of lace. The aroma seems to have undergone a little dry hopping, and some cider was added. Hoppy cider? Not exactly, though that would be funny.

The taste starts grassy and brings along a soft fruitness. There's an edge of tastiness which round out the beer. It's lighter medium with a crisp beer, helping make this beer an easy drinker.

Not much of a Belgian classic, but more of a Bruges classic. Some sources say that it's the only beer to actually be brewed in the city, and believe it or not, is actually lagered.

Best before 8/2014.

Pours a murky orange with a foamy beige head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small dots slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is of malt, candied fruit, and some subdued spice aromas. Taste is much the same with malt and grape juice flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a high level of carbonation with a crisp and prickly mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with some solid fruity aromas and flavors.
