341ml bottle, part of a broken-open 2015 Snowcase pack at my local chain liquor store outlet. Another brew whose marketing is based on the European alpine lore of a demon incarnate who kidnaps misbehaving children, much in the way of yer typical old-school Grimm's 'fairy tales'.
This beer pours a clear, dark rusty brown colour, with one flabby finger of weakly puffy, somewhat foamy, and mostly just bubbly tan head, which leaves some calving iceberg profile lace around the glass as it evenly recedes.
It smells of sweet, sugary nougat, grainy caramel malt, zesty cinnamon and nutmeg spice, a twinge of minty cocoa, sozzled orange rind, a bit of peppery yeast, and that slice of fruitcake you know you're never going to finish. The taste is bready, very gingerbread-like caramel/toffee malt, further edgy clove and cinnamon spice, my Mom's brown sugar cookies, both mint and orange flavoured After Eights, a leafy, grassy, and pine resin-heavy hoppiness, and some loitering, sniffing around for trouble booziness.
The bubbles are quite understated in their barely supportive frothiness, the body a sturdy medium weight, and as smooth and maybe silky as a fallen angel who gets their kicks out of pinching the kiddos. It finishes sweet, but in the moderated sense of the holidays - sugary, yeah, but the spice and alcohol keep it all in line, if not exactly your way of walking after the fact.
I gotta say, this turns out all right, the kitchen sink of various seasonal affectations providing much to dissect and discuss, sure, but overall, I'm more inclined to just say that this is a pleasant, very warming strong and spiced Belgian ale, and that I wish that I could procure more of it to make Christmas Day activities pass more - just more.

Phillips Brewing 'Krampusnacht' @ 9.5% , served from a squealer purchased for $6
A-pour is a golden/brown from the squealer to a dirty dark brown in the glass with a medium size beige head leaving a fine spotty lace film along the chalice
S-so sweet , dried candied frut
T-big tasting strong dark ale , so sweet at the start & swallow
MF-decent carbonation , big full body
Ov-glad this was on the growler list , try and find this rare beer & enjoy

Final day of the Phillips Snowcase advent calendar for 2015. 341ml bottle poured into tulip.
Pours a dark reddish brick brown with one finger of weakly foamy head.
Smells of baked, spiced orchard fruit, caramel squares, cinnamon and cloves.
Tastes of apple crisp with cinnamon and brown sugar, spicy caramel malt, gingerbread and faint leafy hops. Menacing alcohol.
Feels smooth and soft. Medium bodied with gentle carbonation. Finishes pleasantly sweet and spicy.
Verdict: Highly recommended. I have had quite enough of strong Belgian-style beers at this point and I still really liked it.

Bottle from the Philips Snowcase pack which I worked through at my own pace and direction.
I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this one as I feel let down by some of the other offerings from the Snowcase. Poured a dark brownish red with a bubbly head, with a slight fizzing.
On the nose my first thought was of gingersnap cookies, with notes of ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg and brown sugar coming to the forefront. Tastes of gingerbread again with hints of cinnamon and sugar but, also a very appealing chocolate orange flavour which compliments the gingerbreadiness surprisingly well. Finish is a little sweet and the booziness comes through, but overall a very nice spiced winter warmer from Phillips!
