Thanks to GRG1313 for sharing this one at his tasting.
Pours a murky brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to a small cap on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, and dark fruit aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa covered dark fruit flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roasty bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with some solid aromas and flavors.

Opens with a resounding POP! Pours an effervescent mahogany with 3 fingers of tan head. Epic lacing & nice head retention
S: Strong carob, plum, jammyness & some stoic sour/musty notes
T: Raisins, dryness, red grapes, choke cherries & oakyness up front. Some Madeira flavors as this warms, jammy notes, faint cherry & oaky dryness, with ever-so faint leafy hops melding into the mix. Finishes with red grape, sour cherry, much oaky dryness, a touch of vanilla & tannic notes
MF: Medium bodied, firm carbonation & oak dryness, nice boozey warmth
The dryness really turns this into a sipper, works alright on a sub 40 degree night here in late April. This will probably do better with 6-12 more months on it for my tastes. Probably in it's peak now for what Odell intended. I am not a huge fan of most aged beers with a wine themed twist on them, this is not an exception; glad I got to try it. Solid offering from one my favorite breweries

On tap at Bryants Lake Bowl the other day.
The beers a blackish brown color with pretty decent head retention and lacing. The nose is unusual and complex, showing considerable dark chocolate, vanilla, roasty malt, coffee and light licorice, but then with a slight sour, wine component as well. While all that is intriguing on the nose, it's not such a hit on the palate. The moderately sweet coffee, dark chocolate and vanilla just doesn't play well with the wine flavor. There really needs to be more of former and/or less of the latter to make this work (IMHO). It's not awful, but I really think the wine detracts from what is otherwise a pretty tasty imperial porter. Mouthfeel is medium bodied at most, and the finish is moderately thin and somewhat and dry. Again, the wine flavor just doesn't do a lot for this beer, and I think it mars the beer's drinkability as well.
An interesting beer, but one that I ultimately think is a bit of fail for Odell.
