Well, I am going to part company with many reviewers on this stout. 1st this brew somewhat lives up to its title. However, I didn't like the taste at the finish line. It delivers a metallic sour flavor that reminds me more of a bitter chocolate than a chocolate milk. Also we should compare this to other chocolate stouts. I suggest that the Wells' Young Double Chocolate, Samuel Smith' Organic Chocolate Stout, and Rogue's Chocolate Stout just cream this one.
The look and aroma are OK. But the smoothness is not silky smooth as a chocolate milk stout should be. For example, Youngs Dble Chocolate stout is world class and smooth. Silky smooth. In comparison then this stout must drop below average. My rec is not to buy a 6 when checking this toilet stew out. Get a cheaper single. Otherwise your drain is gonna get drunk on some shitty brew. Come on Odell you're better than this.
Pair this with the cd Isaac Hayes Chocolate Chip. Then move on.

A: Pours a nice dark brown with a big fluffy medium brown head. Head fades slowly, leaving a really nice spiderweb lacework behind. Great head retention as well.
S: Chocolate, cream and a little smoky umami too interestingly enough.
T: Bitter chocolate initially, then a wave of creamy sweet milk chocolate follows it. There is a little savory smoky umami presence from beginning to end, kind of like a BBQ. Not much but it adds a certain heartiness to the beer. Some bittersweet chocolate in the finish and lingering between sips once the sweetness falls away.
M: Nice medium body, smooth and creamy.
O: Excellent milk chocolate stout. Not too sweet like a lot of these are, but sweet nonetheless. Nice full smooth body lends to excellent drinkability. A little savory umami adds a layer of complexity to an otherwise pure chocolate milk stout. Nice brew.

A- Pours black with a 1 finger mocha colored head. Little retention for the most part. But good looking bubbles settle around the edge. Soapy lacing. Looks fairly viscous and opaque.
S- Chocolate, but seem more like dry chocolate than milk chocolate. Just not picking up on the lactose as much as expected. Some wonderful roasted notes though. No alcohol present.
T- Getting the chocolate milk here, and I love it! Depth of chocolate good ness. It comes through much better than the nose indicates, but without forfeiting the roasted character. Some nuts come through as well. Touch of warmth at just the right time. A desert stout indeed.
M- Creamy as can be. Velvety. Almost, but not quite, chewy. Rich, smooth but with a bit of a bite at the end. Bittersweet almost. Alcohol settles in nicely. Absolutely impressive feel to this one.
O- Wonderful. This has been overlooked in my closet for far too long. Love the style, love the effortless-like nature, love the simplicity. Didn't want the drink to finish. I would absolutely love to have a case of this stored away for the holidays. Well done

look: 3.75 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 4 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.75
Appearance: Poured such a dark, dark brown that zero light shone through. It had a tiny brown head which evaporated quickly, which I was rather confused by. (Perhaps my glass wasn't cleaned thoroughly enough, I'll make sure to re-rate this brew soon.)
Smell: Sweet chocolate comes through, a hint of roasted malts, a noticeable alcohol aroma peers through as well.
Taste: The beginning hits a bit sweet with hints of chocolate; the middle brings out more of the milk chocolaty notes; the end dies down into a roasted finish.
Mouthfeel: A bit too carbonated. Also, more on the light-bodied side of medium, not chewy enough, but still fit for a sweet stout - creamy enough.
Overall: I will definitely purchase/rate this again. I've had it before and remember it being SO much better, I'm not familiar with infected beers, but this could be my first. Perhaps my senses were shot after that Mycenary. I know this is a far better brew than my rating has shown, I'm saddened. We'll see.

Poured into a balloon glass.
Look: Dirty motor oil black with a mocha colored head that recedes to a ring around the edges, and wisps everywhere else. Minimal lacing.
Aroma: Sugary sweet with lactose coming through. Roasted malts and chocolate later on.
Taste: Definitely a lactose-sugar component at first. After that, the more roasted characteristics emerge combining dark chocolate, baking cocoa, and roasted malts. A bitter chocolate finish.
Mouthfeel: About medium bodied, a little dry, and not cloying at all.
Overall: I think the longer I drink this, the more chocolate milk comes out. At first it seems like a bunch of individual parts thrown together, but in the end it made more sense.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a tulip glass.
A: Opaque, dark borwn color showing light transmission around the edges, with a peripheral ring of mocha-tinted bubbles. Light lacing remains on the glass.
S: Roasted and dark, but more dried fruit than chocolate. Rustic nuttiness emerges as the beer warms. No alcohol is detected.
T: Begins barely off-dry, with baker's yeast and mild dark fruit. Sweetness tips up for an instant the same time as acidity pings into the middle. Chocolate is very well-established during the second act, significantly unctuous and reverting to dryness. The finish is of cacao nibs--nutty and roasty, expanding on the palate with as much aroma as flavor. No alcohol is detected.
M: Medium viscosity, creamy on the palate, with low carbonation.
D/O: Relatively strong for a milk stout, this beer hides its 8.5% abv well as it delivers the promised chocolate. While the smell is simplistic, the taste is focused on chocolate but with enough room for other features. It is texturally very strong, doing everything that a stout should.

ST: Bottle poured into glass
A: Nice dark color. Finished pour leaves a good head. Lacing all the way down.
S: Light nose on the chocolate; heavy on the roasted malt.
T: Starts with a heavy roast taste, then finishes with a smooth chocolate taste with a little hops to it (not a bunch)
MF: Light on the body and heavy on the flavor.
O: Exceptional beer. I could drink this any time of the year, so I am sad that it is a seasonal. If you see this and haven't had it, you should.
