Style | ABV
Scottish Ale |  5.30% ABV

Availability: Year-round. bottle (295), on-tap (63), growler (2), cask (1)

Notes:
We introduced 90 Shilling, our flagship beer, at our opening party in 1989. For a while, we'd been wondering what would happen if we lightened up the traditional Scottish ale? The result is an irresistibly smooth and delicious medium-bodied amber ale.

A: A rich red-brown with a medium thick head.

S: Very rich bready nose, not sugary but clear notes of sweet malt.

T: This beer has a subtle biscuit flavor typical of English ales and finished sweet and hearty. The sweet finish also masks most of the hop bitterness present.

M: For a lighter colored beer this has some real texture to it Not overly alcoholic but it feels like your really drinking something substantial.

O: A classic beer in a style that is starting to make a comeback in the US. Most of the Scottish ales trend toward light and unflavorful or strong and syrupy characteristic of may Wee Heavy ales. 90 Shilling strikes a nice balance between these two, yielding a tasty and drinkable ale.

look: 4.25 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4.75 | feel: 5 | overall: 4.75

Appearance: Poured a rich amber color with a small off white head that left a fine lace.

Smell: Such a surprisingly sweet smell, candy-like, but not overbearing. A sweet malt and hop aroma.

Taste: The beginning has a malty dullness to it, but a complex dullness; the middle escalates quickly to let the hops peek through more with a sharp bitterness; the end ties both flavors back down together into a calm bitter.

Mouthfeel: Smooth to perfection.

Overall: One of Odell's best. Such a complex yet simple brew. It's hard to explain. Unique.
