Pours a deep ruby garnet with absolutely no head and no bubbles. Some lacing if you swirl.

Aromas begin with dark cherry, raisins, figs and super strong oak tannins. As it warms the alcohol becomes more and more apparent.

The tastes begin with brown sugar, caramel, toffee and dark fruits. The strong oak is present throughout along with warming, border-lining, hot alcohol flavors.

Mouthfeel is heavy bodied with no carbonation. Finish is syrupy and sweet and also has some warming alcohol booziness.

Overall this and the Woodcut 4 were by far the poorest efforts in the series, but this one may be slightly worse because of the lack of carbonation. Both were quite boozy and hot but the lack of carbonation really hurts the flavor profile considering most Belgian style ales are higher in carbonation which helps the hefty flavor profile.

A: Poured a completely flat dark amber with no head whatsoever. Disappointing.

S: Dark fruits, caramel, toffee and oak. Meh.

T: Despite the lack of carbonation the beer still offers up some nice tasting notes. Lots of wood, caramel, dark fruits with a booze sting. Finish is flat, hot, sticky an sweet.

M: Medium bodied, heat, flat and boring. I really wish I had something to force carb this beer because I know it has so much potential

O: Huge let down. Especially in what you have to pay for these.

A: poured a dark reddish brown in color with pale brown highlights and a nice finger worth of head which left some good lacing sticking to the glass.

S: lots of dark fruit, molasses, caramel and brown sugar present in the aroma with sweet yeasty notes very noticeable oakiness, and hints of cherry fruit.

T: the oakiness was more prominent on the palate alongside the caramel molasses brown sugar character, mild whiskey flavor, a touch of cherries coming through and sweet belgian yeasty accents.

M: the brew was medium in body with a fair amount of carbonation which had a sweet, mild fruity, oaky, mild boozy and silky finish.

O: solid brew all around and always excited to try new beers from the woodcut series. Good lookin out whoever brought this brew to torinos crib.

Poured from the bottle into a tasting snifter. This was opened up at the August Baltimore BA tasting.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy reddish amber color with a layer of off white head that fades to a ring around the pour.

Smell: Sweet malt with some alcohol heat, caramel, and dark fruit. I'm also getting a red berry tartness in the background.

Taste: Very smooth with a mild caramel/brown sugar sweetness. Some dark fruit and red berry tartness. The finish is bitter with some alcohol heat.

Mouthfeel: The body is a bit syrupy with smooth, fluffy carbonation and a dry finish.

Overall: The tartness was a bit weird. I still thought it was a pretty good beer.

Pours a light to medium brown color with no head, after an aggressive pour. The aroma has dark fruit, brown sugar, caramel, and oak.

The taste is just like the aroma. There is dark fruit, brown sugar, caramel, and oak. The taste is sweet, with no detectable hop bitterness.

Medium bodied with no carbonation. This is completely flat. I chose not to judge the taste on the lack of carbonation, but the mouthfeel is another story.

Overall a nice tasting beer, but the lack of carbonation is a problem.

Pours a murky amber brown red color. Scent is nice rye whiskey. Sweet vanilla with a hefty toffee presence. Not much of a Quad aroma on this other than the dark fruits. Not really picking up any Belgian yeast. Taste is exactly like it smells. Very rich and interesting taste. Somewhat boozy as well. Mouthfeel is full bodied and could use more carbonation. I just feel like most Quads are highly carbonated, and this one lacks. Drinkability is fair. Overall, a very unique beer that may better with a little age. Other than that, it is a drinkable barrel aged beer that I would probably not purchase again. I really appreciate my buddy Bruce for sharing it with me though.
