As soon as I heard this was on tap at Old Chicago from a friend, I went up there and they had it on there beer menue. Its some kind of Exclusive beer for there St.Patricks thing.

So since its over 9%, they had to serve it in a 10oz glass. No problem I said. Unfortunately it was a stupid very slinder stange style glass.

Upon arriving the color a a darker amber color with a slight white one inch head. Poor head retention with decent lacing though

Aroma was not as citrus forward as I thought it would be. Bready malts with cracker like smell are prominent with a spicy alcohol heat. Faint smells of orange and slight grapefruit is al.

Taste was of slight citrus flavors upfront with the likes of tangerine and bits of grapefruit. Midway some malts come into play with a bit of a barley taste. Pursuing is an onslaught of bitterness that takes it all the way to the finish

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with high carbonation and bitterness.

Overall I wasnt too impressed. I would like to try it again though under new circumstances

Hazy golden yellow with just the slightest bit of orange hue, and a small white head that sticks around. Leaves a good lacing.

Nice citrusy and floral hop aroma, with just a tad of pine and a small bready malt base if I try hard. Very hop forward, which is something I love in IPA's, especially doubles.

Complex hop combo that is much more about the flavor and aroma than bitterness. Plenty of the citrusy, fruity, floral and piney hops all meshing together perfectly in a super hop forward but not a crazy smack in the face way. Getting the bready, cracker malts which blends really nicely too.

Moderate body and carbonation with a very creamy smooth overall feel. Not heavy despite the size. Very nice.

Very nice DIPA - way more mellow than I expected from the aroma, but totally works. You'd never guess this was such a huge beer, considering how smooth and easy drinking it is, but you know it's a DIPA because of the complex hop explosion. Highly recommended.
