if the lq keeps bringing in little pricey goodies like this,
i'll go broke.

A- pours a clear autumn (could that be hints of green?) tinge. magnificent lacing and a lingering 1.5 inch head

S- clean, bright northwest hops. hints of earth (corn tortillas?)

T- with the lack of hop bitterness, this could almost pass for a generously dry-hopped pale ale. IPAs can be too grassy and overbearing (pliny the elder?), but with citrus (cascade, citra) sweetness right up front, and an earthy backing in the finish; you've had a proper introduction to IPAs. alcohol is disguised until you've already started a fight/proposed/sung karaoke.

M- velvet. i've had barley wines and belgians with the mouthfeel of a shot of robitussin. this one has just the right amount of alcohol and alpha acids to (very) temporarily numb the tongue; leaving a silky, smooth finish. other domestic (coors, bud, miller) beers may boast of a "smooth finish", but after tasting this one, they must mean "it's like water!"

O- though i vacillate between the dark and light, the hoppy and the malty, if i was introducing someone to the IPA world (without scaring them off); i'd choose this one.

Hazy golden yellow with just the slightest bit of orange hue, and a small white head that sticks around. Leaves a good lacing.

Nice citrusy and floral hop aroma, with just a tad of pine and a small bready malt base if I try hard. Very hop forward, which is something I love in IPA's, especially doubles.

Complex hop combo that is much more about the flavor and aroma than bitterness. Plenty of the citrusy, fruity, floral and piney hops all meshing together perfectly in a super hop forward but not a crazy smack in the face way. Getting the bready, cracker malts which blends really nicely too.

Moderate body and carbonation with a very creamy smooth overall feel. Not heavy despite the size. Very nice.

Very nice DIPA - way more mellow than I expected from the aroma, but totally works. You'd never guess this was such a huge beer, considering how smooth and easy drinking it is, but you know it's a DIPA because of the complex hop explosion. Highly recommended.
