12 oz pour in a Kane tulip at the brewery.
Single Fin pours a mostly opaque golden yellow, with roughly a finger of fluffy white foam. Head retention is decent and lacing is a bit spotty. The nose has a fairly prominent cracker aroma, and it's supplemented by a delicate pepper smell. The flavor profile starts off with that same cracker like pale malt sweetness. There's also a bit of a pear centric stone fruit note. A soft bitterness follows and clears everything out for spicy phenols to provide the finish. The body is very light, and paired with a pretty lively carbonation, just a superb mouthfeel. Kane's Single Fin is a great sessionable Belgian beer from possibly my favorite brewery in the state.

on tap at the brewery
Pours a clouded, grainy golden color with a tuft of white head. Fades into a thin film, leaving a ring of lacing on the glass.
Touches of spice, banana and clove with a floral touch. Yeasty with some grainy malts and faint citrus.
Banana with clove, light hops and cracked pepper up front. Yeasty tones deliver a soft funk with grass and orange peel. Thin backbone with cereal and grain. Light sweetness with a crisp finish.
Lighter body, well carbonated, crisp and thin on the tongue. Definitely an easy, smooth drinker, although I think this is more of a Blonde than a straight up Belgian pale.

On-tap 8/21/2012 at Cloverleaf Tavern in Caldwell, NJ, served in a US pint glass.
A: The beer is a cloudy yellow color, with a short dense off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.
S: The aroma contains citrus, spices, light caramelized malts and a faint touch of hops.
T: The taste starts out with flavors of lemon, orange and clove spice. Then a mild but complementary hops presence comes in to bring some balance. The malt character is a bit on the thin side. The after-taste is bready and slightly sweet.
M: Crisp and smooth, light-to-medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.
O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, mild kick, decent representation of style, it’s a solid beer but there are better choices within the style.

Clear pilsner gold color with a big but rapidly evaporating white head. Smells heavily of banana bread and clove. Touch of bubble gum.
Very dry for a Belgian session which is nice. Sweet banana bread flavor up front, herbal and medicinal hops come to play and finishes with spicy clove and dry bitterness. Pretty good, big flavor and sessionable which is what they were going for. Can get pretty complex if you really wanna dive into it.
Is right up there with the session line by full sail, big flavor that you can drink all day.

I had this on tap at Mohawk House in Sparta, NJ. They poured into a fluted glass in the other room (so I didn't know what the initial head was).
The beer was a nice, hazy yellow. I got about a single finger of foam.
In the nose I get a little sour, some flowery hops, and a little bit of citrus.
The flavor was pretty easy drinking. I like the mix of the hops as well as some banana presence.
I tip my hat to Mike Kane. This was another very good example of the style from Mike.

On-tap at Delicious Heights. Pours a shimmering gold with a bit of chill haze, slowly clearly up nicely. Small somewhat soapy looking head that settles quickly; lacing is patchy and spotty. Big Belgian yeast aroma; lots of spice; clove, pepper, citrusy lemon hops.
Flavor follows the nose closely; the Belgian style is nailed. Very authentic. Lots of yeasty phenolic notes; spices, some banana and bubblegum esters; assertive lemon; hops are bright and citrusy but well-integrated and not overly bitter. Fruity but not sweet and has a nicely dry finish.
Crisp and clean feel with bubbly carbonation and a medium-light body. Very easy to drink. A tasty and dead-on interpretation of a Belgian pale.
