Kane is a local brewery and they self-distribute to local bars. There is a bar next door to my office that had this on tap and it was by far the best beer on tap. I've been fighting to keep it on tap because they would probably replace it with Bud Light Lime or something...
This rye pale ale is gritty, bitter, and delicious (everything a rye pale ale should be)! I really enjoy the over-hopped character. The first time I had this, I smelled it and was not too sure, but as soon as I drank some down I knew this was a good beer.

I picked up a growler of this fine offering from the brewery about a week ago. The growler has been capped ever since the pour. This left a decent amount of carbonation still in the bottle. The brewery was fun to visit. The owner was pretty cool to discuss beer with, and the staff seemed to really enjoy their craft.
I poured this into the pint glass and there was about a finger of foam. The coloring was light brown.
The smell was spot on for a rye. It seems to have mellowed from being in the fridge for the last week. The flavor still has a great hop punch on it. I like the pineyness in the hop. The bitterness is not overwhelming.
This is a very easy to drink rye. I can recommend this as a good entry level rye beer. The flavor is balanced, but not over the top. Most other ryes would have a bigger flavor punch (but then, they probably wouldn't be consumer friendly.

Pleasantly surprised to find this on tap at a local liquor store.
Pours a bright shiny copper, topped by two fingers plus of bright white foam. Very good lacing throughout the glass.
Big piney notes in the aroma.
Good semi-sweet malt foundation, nice but not overpowering rye, a bit of fritiness, and a good but not aggressive bitter nip at the swallow.
Firm medium mouthfeel.
A good first impression from a newer NJ brewery.

Again, very nice showing from new brewery Kane in NJ.
Pours a golden color, brown orange with little head. Malts and hops blend together very well to create a nice spice and citrus flavor.
Very smooth rye beer. Can't wait to try the next brew from Kane.

growler poured into tulip - thanks to acviencko and cjo
Pours a golden orange color with bright hues, a little white head dissolves into clouds of film with a few spots and patches of lacing left behind.
Bready malts in the nose with a slight buttery touch, juicy citrus hops and rye spice with a little touch of sweetness.
Burst of hops with citrus, quickly brushed away by a thicker malt base. Bready and a little buttery with some sticky sweetness in the backbone. The rye spice adds a nice touch, combining with the hops for a bitter, dry finish.
Medium body, nice carbonation, dry and a bit sticky on the tongue. A decent rye pale ale, and I'm excited to see more from Kane in the near future.
