High Wire is our tribute to the Pale Ales of the West Coast of America, beers unapologetically hop forward in character. Let your taste buds walk this test of balance. Mango, Lychee and lip-smacking grapefruit flavours harmonise against a smoothly composed malt base, which develops into a crisply bitter finish. Are you ready for our tightrope of taste…?

Good pale ale. Smooth and hoppy! On the somewhat lighter side of medium bodied. A little cloudy and orange in color. Tastes fruity, peppery, hoppy, citrusy, and grapefruit. perfect carbonation. Bitter, yet balanced. Easy to drink. I could drink 2, maybe 3 in a session.

On tap at HaandBryggeriet Beer Festival. Golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of piney and citrussy American hops. Piney and resinous flavour. Quite good beer.

Orange appearance, a lot of thin floating pieces, quite hazy. Half finger of foam.
In the smell malt and caramel, american hop with citrus notes, tangerine, relatively fresh.
Light malt in the taste, some caramel, and hop.
In the aftertaste a lot of intense bitterness, citrus (tangerine) and resinous. Some pineapple. Quite long.

Crisp fruity take on the style. Quite a lot of apple, some floral notes, and a sweet malty backbone. There is a soul element to the aftertaste which I did not enjoy all to much, but this is nontheless a quite decent beer.

L - Mid amber, cloudy, white 1-finger head reducing swiftly to lacing.
S - Pungent! Subtetly went out the window when they were devising this recipe. Citrus/orange/grapefruit.
T - Hard to identify behind the 1000 foot high onslaught of hops. Oh hang on the tang of grapefruit just appeared I think.
F - Very dry, bitingly so [I wince]. I suspect there will be a notable demographic who simply physically can't tolerate the hoppy/dry/bitterness of this.
O - No, I just don't get the point of this beer, it's OTT, a blunt instrument. It's like a beer equivalent of a 'Hottest curry eating competition' - why would anyone want to pay to do it? Note to self: 'Make sure you don't buy this again!!'

Enjoying on a beautiful and sunny London day while overlooking the Thanes.
Pours a hazy orange straw color. A silky film skims the surface, shows good retention, and yields lacing.
Hoppy aromas hit the nose and emit citrus; reminiscent of a hoppy American Ale. Aromas of caramel malt and candied apricot add another layer.
Bright flavors that showcase citrusy hops amidst a bready dry malt backbone. The bitterness strikes an excellent balance at moderately high. The finish has a lime like zest and a nice dry and bitter linger.
Medium bodied, moderately carbonated and a nice amount of crispness.
A nice and refreshing hops forward American style pale ale.

Pours a dull, burnt orange with a fluffy, cream-colored head. Nose reveals piney hops, floral notes and hints of sweet malt. Taste follows nose - malt is a little more crackery and there's some citrus zest at the finish. Mouthfeel is light-medium in body with a lively carbonation and a mild acidity. All and all, a solid example of the style.

Hazy amber color with a thick head with short retention.
Delicious tropical and citrusy aroma with notes of lychees, piney resin, passion fruit, fresh oranges, grapefruit, stone fruit and mango.
Flavor with notes of oranges, pine, ginger, white pepper, grapefruit, lemongrass, mango and malt sweetness. Quite dry and bitter aftertaste with a long finish.
Light body with appropriate carbonation.
Rounded hoppy APA with a pungent and crisp bitterness. Delivered West Coast through its 5 Cs traditional American hops and a magnum caliber.

Poured into a becher pint glass.
The appearance was a murky pale orange to amber color with a finger's worth of white foamy head that slid off pretty quick. Sliding lace.
The aroma had some grapefruit sweetness, somewhat pulpy and then some sugars, and dosed lightly with a little bit of citrus.
The flavor was sweet all of the way through pulling in some grains to meld with the grapefruit and sugars. Aftertaste was extremely sweet.
The mouthfeel was between light and medium bodied with a decent sessionability about it depending upon how one feels their way around the sugary sweetness of this beer. Carbonation did feel fine with this. ABV also felt appropriate.
Overall, well, if you like sweet APA's, sure go for this one. Odd, given where I live, I keep thinking this seems like something Magic Hat would do. But the bottle does say Magic Rock, interesting, well, go figure.
