I didn't ask and the board just stated 'oak aged,' but this beer had to have been aged in some sort of booze....I would guess whiskey, but I could be off on that, never had to figure out the type of barrel blind before, and my booze palette is even more limited than my beer palette.
Pours a hazy like dark brown with a sligh head. Aroma offers some nice boozy barrel cutting into roasty, chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon aroma, Same deal with the flavor, the boozy oak cuts right into and blends with the rich chocolate, vanilla, marshmallow, cinnamon, graham cracker, roasted barley. A medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, I really liked this one a lot. The barrel was able to do away with the cloyingness I found in the original porter, and offered a nice overall additional flavor component to the beer. Would definitely drink this again.
