Reviewed from 33 cl bottle bought in Madrid. Trigo is Spanish for Wheat.
A - Initial pour was a pale straw-colored, very clear beer. I noticed a thick layer of well-clumped sediment at the bottom, so I swirled it in the last inch of beer in the bottle and then dumped it into the glass to get the full wheat beer experience. This made the beer milky and cloudy, but not totally opaque. The head was white, thick and fluffy and lasted throughout the tasting. I had to cut the initial pour short because of the mountain of foam that tried to climb out of the glass. It looks like a good example of a Belgian wit.
S - Aroma is like a restrained witbier or maybe halfway between a witbier and a hefeweizen. Crisp, grainy wheat smell and a low level of clove and bubblegum and maybe black pepper yeast notes. I don't really get the banana note common in German wheat beers. Nor do I detect any added spice like coriander or orange common in Belgian styles. It is a little safe and middle-of-the-road, but clean.
T - Like the smell, the taste is a little muted, but clean. Good grainy wheat taste like whole grain bread. A little noble hops in the background. Not a lot of character from the yeast, although there is a bit of black pepper-like spice in the finish.
M - Very fizzy carbonation, distractingly so. The body is a bit watery. Very low hops bitterness and no alcohol burn. There is a soapy astringency that I think is a carbonic acid effect from the super-high carbonation.
O - A good wheat beer, although tough to put in a category. At different times in the tasting I thought, "Oh, they were going for xxx type of beer..." only to change my mind a few minutes later. Still, it is a clean, well-made, drinkable beer. I think the carbonation should be dialed back a bit, but otherwise it is enjoyable.
