As has been mentioned, this is about as small as a Whole Foods will ever get. Though, that isn't a reflection of the beer selection that is available. There are always plenty of interesting things to be had here, with a thorough availability of California brews always there. They even have growlers of Magnolia brews usually available for purchase. Bottom line is that it really isn't worth a trip out of the way for, but if you are in the area, you might as well stop in to see what's there. And if you are visiting and don't make it to The Haight (and Amoeba Records), why exactly are you visiting anyways?

Pretty nice little beer cooler here, located on Haight near Amoeba Music. Stopped in to grab some picnic stuff, didn't realize this location was in Beerfly.
Beer coolers are to the left of the entrance, in the open aisle facing the deli counters. Imports up first, a few Belgians and assorted 750s, mostly quality staples. Interested in local/regional beer, I was happy to find singles of 21st Amendment cans, and a good number of CA bombers (Iron Springs, Six Rivers, FW, etc.). There was a sign explaining they get Pliny & Blind Pig in on thursdays, and it sells out by saturday every week. Luckily they had some sour RR stuff and plenty of west coast IPAs (Sculpin, Union Jack, etc.). A whole endcap of Velvet Merlin, which I didn't see elsewhere.
Friendly checkout, and the beer sign about Pliny was a good sign of service here. It's a grocery store, so someone is never far away if there's a question.

Always like to check out the local Whole Foods Market whenever I'm lucky enough to be a long way from home. This location is just across the street from Golden Gate park and just a few blocks from the intersection of Haight and Ashbury. On the smaller side for WFM, the beer is towards the rear and its decent but not really anything amazing..you will find ample quality options, especially if you are looking for fresh Cali IPAs....dont expect anything amazing, but do expect to find ample choices to bring home, on top of the usual WFM good food options.

One of my closest friends lives just a few blocks south of this Whole Foods, and I usually stop in when I come to visit him.
In terms of quality, atmosphere, service, and pricing, this is no different than any other Whole Foods Market. Everything's very clean and open, the staff is friendly (though typically not very beer savvy), and the products are high-end and usually organic and/or local. All of the beer is stored in a long reach-in cooler in the northern end of the store (to your left upon entering).
This Whole Foods offers a wide variety of domestic craft breweries and styles, though the imported section is pretty limited. You will find Russian River here, and on my most recent visit, I spotted Blind Pig, Salvation, Damnation, Supplication, Consecration, Temptation, and Sanctification. Other harder-to-find ales include The Angel's Share, Ten Fidy, Hop Crisis, Double Jack, Sculpin, and Stone BELGO IRS.
While the selection here won't rival the upper echelon stores in the city (Healthy Spirits, City Beer Store, Plumpjack, etc.), it's a great place to hit up if you're spending more than a couple days in or around the Upper Haight area.
