Pale golden body with clover honey colored highlights. Some splotches of dense lace on the glass.

Pink grapefruit, fresh lilac, perfumey and sweet. Some green peppercorn as it warms up.

Citrus hoppiness, salty seawater, green peppercorn, carrot, dishwater, and a touch of buckwheat. That must seem absurd that I just listed those combinations. The finish is very floral and mild. Little spiciness, and not much pronunciation of the malt. Just a nice balance.

Medium carbonation. Medium body.

Love a local brew. This IPA was a nice surprise.

Draught @ Headkeeper: This one pours a clear golden color. There is a pretty good sized off-white head on it. There is some lacing. It has a noce nose. Pine and citrus hops dominate. Some biscuit and earthy notes also. Taste is good. Not too bitter. Earthy, biscuity body, with a somewhat subdued pine and citrus hop bite. A nice IPA.

Appearance: Coppery orange with about one finger of creamy white head. Nice lacing on the glass.

Smell: Citrus and resiny pine; a touch of malty sweetness.

Taste: The hops immediately bite you. This is a pretty serious IPA. Grapefruit, orange, citrus, caramel, malts, with a touch of grass - what you'd expect from a good IPA.

Mouthfeel: Mild carbonation, medium body.

Overall: A very enjoyable IPA - well balanced and full of hop flavor. Overall, a well-done beer from a relatively new local brewer.

A;
Poured a 1/4 finger white head. Fades to a great lacing ring. Goldish in color.

s:
Flower, sweet...like grapefruit/ citrus..or lemon

t:
taste is almost the same as the smell. I get a good hint of hops that plays around my palate slightly that the sweet flavors push out.. For sure, citrus fruit, a honey like sweetness, and that hops.

M;
mouth feel is pretty light which is surprising for the hops. I get a slight tang on the tip of my palate which I really enjoy.

Overall:
I would love this during a humid Pittsburgh spring day. Count me in for a case of it.

Helltown Insidious IPA

Ontap, pours a bright copper with a chill haze. Aroma is light of citrusy hops, herbal elements and alittle malt sweetness poking through. In the taste, citrusy hops, a touch of west coast IPA hop fruityness. Suggestions of grapefruit, pineapple, pine and earth. The malt body had a firm sweetness and almost reminded me of extract. A nice rounded bitterness and hop bite are there throughout. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, adequate carbonation and smooth. Overall, the Insidious IPA is a nice fresh local option, could definately be a staple.

Id like to thank GREG4579 for bringing this growler up from Pittsburgh to share at our tasting.

I had this beer poured from a growler into a pint glass. The beer had been sitting at room temperature for a solid two hours when tasted again.

A: Golden Straw/Mild Amber Hue, Passes Through Lots of Light, Good White Head, Great Lacing

S: Piney, Crackers

T: Piney, Resin, Bready

M: Great Carbonation, Light to Medium Bodied, Dry, Crisp

Overall, a really good IPA from a start up micro brewery. My only complaint was it was a little too much and burns you out.

Had this on tap at House of 1000 Beers at New Kensington, PA.

Poured into a shaker: Honey-colored body under a finger of soft head that falls to a thin coating. Nice color, weak head.

Very grapefruity right up front in the aroma. Really, that's pretty much it, plain & simple, nice & straightforward.

Moderate citrusy bitterness & a little sweetness, also citrusy. Pretty much follows with the nose, with a restrained bitterness.

Medium-bodied with a nice crispness.

Honestly, not much to say about this other than it's pretty solid & I really enjoyed it. A good drinker, not too bitter, not too sweet. Kind of one-note, but it's a good note. Well done, no complaints here. So far I'm liking what I'm seeing come out of Helltown.

Pours a hazy orange-ish to yellow color with an off white head. In the aroma, sticky sweet orange citrus hops. In the taste, dry pine to a small orange citrus hop, with a nice malt backing. A hop bite and medium bodied mouthfeel, with a semi dry pine hop in the aftertaste. Big nose, more pine in nose than in taste. Very enjoyable.
