500ml bottle poured into a Dogfish Head signature glass.
A - Pours a very pale straw golden color with hints of orange. Body is quite hazy and translucent with a bit of a glow to it. A finger plus of fluffy white head rises and lingers for several minutes and eventually falls to leave behind foamy webs of lacing on the glass.
S - Intensely citrus hoppy aroma. Sweet oranges, grapefruit especially. Touches of pine, and some distinctly floral aromas too. A spicy hop bitterness with good intensity can also be found in the aroma. Only a modest touch of grainy and sweet malt can be found here. Right up there with any great DIPA for hoppy aroma.
T - Yep, those New Zealand hops shine here too...the distinct herbal, piney and earthy hop flavors come thru up front quite well. Backed by a rather firm bitterness, this gives a very crisp flavored beer. Quite dry overall...really fermented out quite a bit...struggling to find any residual sugars here. I find these southern hops to be a bit harsh and far enough away from the norm to be a somewhat distracting flavor. The pineyness is a bit over the top and out of balance with the other flavors here. Still good, but I miss the citrus aspects found in the aroms...to me, if they carried over to the flavor, this could really be outstanding. Still good, but left me wanting a bit more sweet, fruitiness.
M - Medium bodied with a crisp and tingly mid-high level carbonation. Dry, herbal, floral hops dominate. Gives a strong pine oil/extract and resiny aspect and a bit of a coolness on the exhale. Finishes dry and bitter and a bit harsh.
O - Flavors are good on this beer at the start and thru the middle, but a bit lacking on the finish. The finish really doesn't feel like it is inviting me to take another sip...comes across very bitter, dry, a bit medicinal and super piney. A softer finish with some sweetness and citrusy fruit would go along way for me here. I haven't really found a strong liking in any of the beers using New Zealand hops...so maybe this one really had the chips stacked against a bit from the beginning...good beer, but still lacking that something to make it special.

Pale golden color with some haze and a bright white sticky 3 finger head. Nice and hoppy nose. Super floral with lots of grapefruit notes and other citrus fruits.
Extremely clean. On the lighter side of medium bodied. Bright orange like acidity with other tropical fruits up front. Brisk carbonation. Lots of citrus like acidity flavor wise. Bitterness is very low but theres just enough to feel it. Almost like orange juice with a beer taste. One of the smoothest beers over 8% i've ever had. I love this.
