A half finger of head on a clear, copper body.
the aroma is lemon and honey with a wonderful floral scent.
The taste is medium bitterness beginning to end and a faint sweetness; comfortable.
The mouth is moderate carbonation and medium body.
Enjoyable and good.

Poured from a bomber into a pint glass. Reviewed live. Go Timbers!
A- Half a finger, rather pitiful head. Very little retention. Large soap-like bubbles remain on the edges. Some ringed lacing when agitated. Light copper color with semi-clarity. An inauspicious start to a beer I had higher hopes for.
S- Can you smell water? Very watery sort of smell, some floral hops, but too diluted a smell for an APA, one of my favorite styles of beer.
T- That's better. Still watery, but the floral hops become far more pronounced. Very slight bitterness. Still unimpressive.
M- Water. Wet finish.
O- Unimpressed. Like the Timbers' chances in MLS this year, this is weak. Unfortunately.

new bottle with the new label! looking sweet.
appearance - golden, clear, medium head and retention
smell - nice hop profile, pine and pineapple
taste - the dry hop really comes out on this one, very hop forward, delicious
mouthfeel - medium body, medium carbonation, slightly dry
overall - fresh and hoppy, but light enough to be a pale, really delicious brew

Clear dark golden colour with a creamy white head. Poor head retention.
Caramel with some resinous hops and grapefruit. Slightly floral. Too much malt.
Crisp, floral hops with a nice grassy note. Mild malt. Very well balanced.
Medium light body with moderate carbonation. Good.
A solid APA with some nice hop flavour and a nice, crisp bitterness.

On tap in a shaker pint in the Lompoc's sunny beer garden, overgrown with, among other things, hop and grape vines. A most fitting setting for my first Portland pint in just about 2 years. Hazy orange with a fair amount of streaky and sticky lacing from the finger of white foam.
Smells pretty potent, seems that generous dry-hopping happened here. Plenty of grapefruit zest, plenty of husky grains. Very dry malt profile, husky and biscuity. Combine this with a heavyhanded dose of grapefruit flesh and pith, toss in a fair amount of bitterness, and you can definitely count this in the "IPA Lite" style of pale ale. Palate fatigue would possibly come into play if you tried to session this stuff, but a couple of pints went down with ease.

A tribute to the inaugural MLS season of the Portland Timbers and the best supporters group in the world, the Timbers Army. Poured from the 22oz bottle into a Maudite sniffer.
Body is a rich, slightly hazy golden color with some orange highlights. A very small, fluffy white head subsides rather quickly. Aroma is a sharp, bready pale malt accompanied by a zesty yeast quality and a touch of mildly fruity hops.
Palate is pale malt with a little bit of husk, some biscuity notes, and a good dose of fruity hops. Notes of grass and fresh cereal grains come through on the swallow. A strong husky bitterness lasts for a while on the finish.
Body is light and refreshing but not too thin. A nicely drinkable ale that's a great tribute to Portland's rise to the next level of soccer.

Chilled bomber into a glass. A generous gift from ramnuts. Thanks, Frank!
A: Pours a hazy, orange-amber body with a fluffy off-white head. Retention is pretty solid, but what I find more impressive is the sticky lace that adorns the glass on the way down.
S: A floral, grapefruit-orange character with a mild rind quality. The malt smell is evocative of fresh, uncracked grain; it reminds me of being inside of a brewing room.
T: Straight grain once more, with a light cracker note. I was hoping for flavors imparted by malt instead of flavors OF malt; it's a little unusual. It's otherwise quite dry; the real centerpiece is the hops. Bitterness is mild, or at least quite well hidden under the well-integrated grapefruit rind character. There's a small floral flavor at the end. Definitely West-Coast style; this won't impress anyone looking for unique, revolutionary flavors, but I find it hard to fault as far as being an easy-drinking, well-formulated beer.
M: Dry, going down quite well. The carbonation is medium, not high enough to give the beer any crispness. I could see this potentially wearing on someone throughout a full bomber, though it wasn't a huge issue for me.
O: Tasty. New Old Lompoc has some hits and some misses for me, but I'd put this in the former category.
