When I see a name like The Cellar, images of wine appear. But while I was walking by, I saw a man drinking a Pinkus on its patio. Ok, now I'm curious. Let's go inside...oh look, cheese for sale. Around the corner, a dark lounge-like setting and a bar for a dozen souls. I see 6 taps, that's a good sign, and now I see over two dozen bottles. Bartender....
I was the lone person inside the lounge shortly after 3pm. There is a happy hour among draft beers starting at 4pm (half-price I believe), so I had arrived a little early for that. Offerings from Anchor and Bootlegger's from the kegs, also the addition of a "cellared" keg in the form of Operation Investigation Shutdown. In the bottle, beer from Avery, Kiuchi, Stone, Chimay, Delirium, and other craft breweries, though there are a handful of macros in the mix. Several pieces of beer glassware I saw, which I like to see. A beer menu with listed prices (most craft domestics at $6 a bottle), another thing I like to see. And I know recently Bootlegger's put on a beer and cheese program one night.
While the theme is wine, there seems to be some respect for beer in the air at The Cellar. I'll still pick Pizza Port 19 out of 20 times, but The Cellar does serve a niche.
