From a 650 ml brown bottle. Pours out a slightly hazed copper hue, with a creamy off-white head.

Fruity esters, citrus and floral notes on the nose. Orange and papaya are prominent.

Sharp herbal hop flavours up front, some grapefruit rind and pith, some orange and tropical fruit in the middle, with dry spicy hops and faint grainy malt on the finish. Astringent grapefruit pith lingers in the aftertaste.

Medium-boided mouthfeel, both creamy and slippery texture, with mild carbonation.

Provides a hop fix that lingers, and while there are no defects of note it doesn't end up successfully wooing me in the end, to the point where I'm compelled to grab another bottle.

Poured a deep copper hue with a two finger frothy white head. There was very good retention and lacing.

The smell featured peppery and grassy hops atop an earthy caramel.

The taste offered an initial wave of pine and pepper that wound down toa pleasant herbalness. The malt, although secondary, did well to support the balmy hops.

The mouthfeel was toward the fuller side of the style.

Overall a tasty hop forward IPA.

Deep darker copper pour, looks effervescent. Head fades.
Nice fruit bouquet. Some apricot that is fused with a juicy hop aroma, all of which leads to a nutty biscuity aroma.
Tastes EXACTLY like the smell upon first taste..more so with this beer than any other I can recall. The resinous hops are bitter but the malt balances it well. After a few sips the fruit profile moves more toward orange zest than the apricot that hit my nose initially. Orange dominates, and grapefruit lay there too. This tastes nice. In fact I'm reminded of another great IPA as far as the taste goes- Big Eye by Ballast Point. Something about the way the sweet citrus plays forward with the malts at play. Sticky, medium carbonation, body leans toward the thin side. Im glad i snagged a "Hanukkah" variety box of this brewery's offerings(several of which are not so easy to find), as apparently Lenny's RIPA is not the only fine brew from Schmaltz.

A: Copper and clear chalked full of lumps of sediment - for the untrained eye that might appear unseemly - for a BA those chunks old promise of something good to come.
A giant off white soaping head form craters and valleys, and when settled, leave delicate lacing around the glass.

S: Even balance of grapefruit and pines with a base note of floral musky. A smoothness of pale malts and pale caramel round out the hops nicely.

T: Up front pale malts wash through, followed quickly with grapefruit pith and a subtle muskiness and carmalized malts. Rounding out the finish more grapefruit bitter that linger briefly, juicy and hoppy.

M: Medium visocity with a thin syrup feel. Pin pricks and tingles on the front of the tongue and plenty of head still left in the glass to the last sip.

O: A solid IPA that offers a intermediate level of hops for those working their way up to a West coast style IPA. Enjoyable to sip and enjoy as a stand alone drink.

It pours a cloudy light copper color with a soapy off white head that left a lot of lacing down the glass.

Smells of fresh grapefruit and tangerine with a hint of pine and caramel. Big juicy hops on the palate at first sip, I tasted loads of grapefruit rind with more pine, slightly sweet with bread on the finish. It's medium bodied with lots of soft carbonation and a dry finish. This is a well made IPA, it just doesn't really stand out from the rest.

At first pour, the head is fluffy and stacks generously over a mirky reddish-copper colored ale. The aroma gives off promising vibes, but moments later, the scent dissolves entirely. So does the flavor. All those malts seem to keep the bitters from remaining at the forfront of your pallet as you sip it. My initial impressions were notes of grape fruit, a little toffee, but it lacks the punch and body to really bring those flavors home. Perhaps Hop Manna lacks the potency I expected with a 6.8% ABV, or perhaps this beer is meant to be enjoyed from a keg... But this beer underwhelms in a lot of ways.

I suppose it's worth a try if you're a fan of Shmaltz, but Lagunitas IPA kicks this beer's ass every which way, so do numerous offerings from Founders, Firestone, and Dogfish.
