Appearance is a clear, reddish-brown colored beer with a rocky tan head of 5 fingers. Shows excellent head retention and a very nice amount of lace.

Aromas are fairly weak -- malty sweet and caramel are what I get, but they're hard to pick up.

Taste is bready with sweet malts, plus some earthy hop bitterness. Also present is an unpleasant flavor I can't identify...it's like a vegetable taste or a staleness.

Mouthfeel features a high carbonation level on a light-to-medium body. Finishes with a somewhat-sweet malt note, plus more of the off-flavors noted before.

Overall a ho-hum offering -- would be OK for a ball game or washing down a pizza, but otherwise isn't very impressive.

Beautiful red-gold amber in the glass. Carbonation is good, and goes swimmingly on the tongue. Not very sweet, and on the thin side. Some slightly roasted malt flavors but not as malty as one might expect for a winter bock. Hops provide a substantial bitterness but not much in the way of aromatics. Hint of dishwater in the aftertaste. Doesn't seem to be very high alcohol either.

A modest beer but decent flavors. Definitely the steal of the season at $2.49 for a 22-oz bottle at Greenlife Grocery in Chattanooga.
