Notes:
A four-time medal winner, this London-style sweet stout is bold, aggressive and deep black in color with a rich, roasted flavor from a generous addition of UK Chocolate malt and roasted barley.

on tap at the brew pub in downtown Chattanooga.
pours an opaque color with light head that dissipates quickly. not much lacing down glass.
smells of roasted malts, coffee been, & charred wood. not bad but not real complex on the nose.
wow, something is off here. all roasted malts and burnt wood flavors. like someone else mentioned... almost like popcorn left in microwave too long. pretty one dimentional and pretty disappointing.
medium body that come across a bit watery. little to no aftertaste.
the menus says this stout has won awards 4 years in a row. don't know bout all that but I will not revisit this beer.

Ok, this was truly a bad beer. It tasted nothing like a stout at all. The aroma was overpowering butterscotch and buttered popcorn. The flavor was disgusting vinegar. Maybe the line was dirty or the beer was infected but this thing was a mess, foul and disgusting.

Tried this on-tap at the downtown Chattanooga restaurant. Poured an opaque black with a tan head. Good retention. Aromas and flavors of coffee, dark chocolate, dark roasted grains. Aromas were pretty good, but the flavors disappointed. Overall, they were pretty weak, with almost no aftertaste. I like stouts much bolder. Mouthfeel was a bit too watery as well - doesn't have to be like motor oil, but I think it should be thicker. Easy to drink, but overall I think it should have a bolder, heavier quality to it.

This beer had a dry stout taste to it. There were as Ding stated, some porter similarities. The taste was a mix of oatmeal and chocolate malts. The beer was smooth and an easy drinker. There were some coffee notes as well. I could drink this beer again. The placemat states this beer won a gold medal in 2004 at the World Beer Cup Competition in the Sweet Stout category.
