A: Dark brown with an off white head

S: getting lots of aroma; mainly Coffee, toffee, cocoa, and licorice....and maybe even some butterscotch

T: Wow, nice sweetness and mild bitterness. Bitterness definitely doesn't linger too much. Nice roasted malts and mild coffee flavor.

M: feels more carbonated than I had expected

O: one of the better porters I've had

Rich, smoky aroma has an overtone of semi-sweet chocolate and subtle roast malt and licorice notes. It pours a deep, warm sable with a thick, fluffy and rather persistent tan head. Flavor, though, lacks the depth that the aroma promised - still smoky like a good porter with roast malt and coffee notes and hints of licorice and chocolate, just not as strong as the bouquet. Texture has OK body but plenty of fizz. Overall, a good porter, if not an outstanding one. Definitely worth a try, especially if you like dark beers.

appearance: Dark brown, nearly opaque, noteworthy billowy tan head with swaths of messy lacing.
smell: Solid chocolate nose, simple, not much depth or richness.
taste: Solid again. Tasty, but a bit of an odd aftertaste. Can't put a finger on it.
mouthfeel: full and creamy.
overall: A good not great Porter. Glad I tried it.

This porter pours exceptionally dark, not giving in anyway to light. There's decent retention of a small 1 finger head. This porter features roasted malt in a big way. The nose is dominated by a smoky roast and American ale yeast. The taste follows closely: roasted grains, chocolate, earthy hops, nutty yeast. The mouthfeel is a bit thin for my taste, but it is well-carbonated. Overall, very nice and very roast forward.

22 oz bottle, no date.

appears opaque black in color, 1/2" thick creamy head, decent head retention. aroma is a bit like toasted marshmellow, bittersweet chocolate.

taste is a bit smokey, roasty, with some bitter cocoa. medium thickness, medium carbonation.

overall - a solid porter. great to pair with porkchops.

A - Great big dark brown coloration, nice beige head that's big and laces nice.

S - Coffee, dark chocolate. There's nothing milky here. It's like smelling pure coffee or cocoa beans. Great. Bordering on robust but not quite.

T - Pretty big flavors. Dark chocolate, bold East African coffee, raisins, prunes, with a big beery after bite.

M - Medium to full bodied. I think the carbonation could be toned down a little here. Nothing to complain about thought. Dry, resinous aftertaste on the tongue. Nice.

D - A good beer. Nice to see a brewery from the home state making a name for themselves with so many quality releases. You can taste the inspiration of Cape Cod in this one. There's a nice Cape breeze and brininess to this beer. It's a dark beer you'd be bound to drink at a beach at a clambake. I appreciate that.

This dark black beer pours from the bottle, slightly syrupy and creates a thick dark tan head, almost 2 inches thick. The color is very dense and black. The aromas on the nose are of dark roasted coffee, dark chocolate, and a hint of vanilla. My first taste is very thick and dense in the mouth. With favors of coffee, dark malt, and bittersweet chocolate. A slight bitterness clears the palette for the next taste. A very strong flavored beer that would need strong foods to withstand the strong flavors. Barbeque and steaks come to mind.

Poured from bomber bottle, it is pitch black with tan head, that fades to ¼ inch.

Aromas of dark roasted malt, cocoa, nutty chocolate, with dark fruit and a hint of tobacco coming in at mid bottle. Hops come through very fleetingly.

Taste is smooth, slightly creamy and somewhat exotic with all the richness in there. Hops are hardly present. A very good porter. Easy to quaff, despite its 7% abv.
