Rich, smoky aroma has an overtone of semi-sweet chocolate and subtle roast malt and licorice notes. It pours a deep, warm sable with a thick, fluffy and rather persistent tan head. Flavor, though, lacks the depth that the aroma promised - still smoky like a good porter with roast malt and coffee notes and hints of licorice and chocolate, just not as strong as the bouquet. Texture has OK body but plenty of fizz. Overall, a good porter, if not an outstanding one. Definitely worth a try, especially if you like dark beers.

appearance: Dark brown, nearly opaque, noteworthy billowy tan head with swaths of messy lacing.
smell: Solid chocolate nose, simple, not much depth or richness.
taste: Solid again. Tasty, but a bit of an odd aftertaste. Can't put a finger on it.
mouthfeel: full and creamy.
overall: A good not great Porter. Glad I tried it.

A: Dark brown with an off white head
S: getting lots of aroma; mainly Coffee, toffee, cocoa, and licorice....and maybe even some butterscotch
T: Wow, nice sweetness and mild bitterness. Bitterness definitely doesn't linger too much. Nice roasted malts and mild coffee flavor.
M: feels more carbonated than I had expected
O: one of the better porters I've had

This porter pours exceptionally dark, not giving in anyway to light. There's decent retention of a small 1 finger head. This porter features roasted malt in a big way. The nose is dominated by a smoky roast and American ale yeast. The taste follows closely: roasted grains, chocolate, earthy hops, nutty yeast. The mouthfeel is a bit thin for my taste, but it is well-carbonated. Overall, very nice and very roast forward.

22 oz bottle, no date.
appears opaque black in color, 1/2" thick creamy head, decent head retention. aroma is a bit like toasted marshmellow, bittersweet chocolate.
taste is a bit smokey, roasty, with some bitter cocoa. medium thickness, medium carbonation.
overall - a solid porter. great to pair with porkchops.

A - Great big dark brown coloration, nice beige head that's big and laces nice.
S - Coffee, dark chocolate. There's nothing milky here. It's like smelling pure coffee or cocoa beans. Great. Bordering on robust but not quite.
T - Pretty big flavors. Dark chocolate, bold East African coffee, raisins, prunes, with a big beery after bite.
M - Medium to full bodied. I think the carbonation could be toned down a little here. Nothing to complain about thought. Dry, resinous aftertaste on the tongue. Nice.
D - A good beer. Nice to see a brewery from the home state making a name for themselves with so many quality releases. You can taste the inspiration of Cape Cod in this one. There's a nice Cape breeze and brininess to this beer. It's a dark beer you'd be bound to drink at a beach at a clambake. I appreciate that.

This dark black beer pours from the bottle, slightly syrupy and creates a thick dark tan head, almost 2 inches thick. The color is very dense and black. The aromas on the nose are of dark roasted coffee, dark chocolate, and a hint of vanilla. My first taste is very thick and dense in the mouth. With favors of coffee, dark malt, and bittersweet chocolate. A slight bitterness clears the palette for the next taste. A very strong flavored beer that would need strong foods to withstand the strong flavors. Barbeque and steaks come to mind.

Poured from bomber bottle, it is pitch black with tan head, that fades to ¼ inch.
Aromas of dark roasted malt, cocoa, nutty chocolate, with dark fruit and a hint of tobacco coming in at mid bottle. Hops come through very fleetingly.
Taste is smooth, slightly creamy and somewhat exotic with all the richness in there. Hops are hardly present. A very good porter. Easy to quaff, despite its 7% abv.

Pours dark brown, becoming black in the glass with a modest chestnut froth that lasts a few minutes, depositing rings of lace on a tulip glass.
Rich roasted malt almost has a burnt quality. Black coffee and baker’s chocolate are more prominent than a background of brown sugar.
Dark roasted malt as expected is just over the threshold of burnt. This has a nice play between bitter and sweet malt. The finish is mild with a quality of blackened steak.
A light to medium body with smooth texture and light, prickly carbonation. There is no hint of alcohol.
Moor Porter is an easy drinking beer, almost dangerously, given its 7% ABV. Sit back and enjoy a pint with friends.

Had on tap at New World Tavern--Plymouth--served into a pint glass
Appearance: dark brown in color, 1/4 inch head, opaque, moderate carbonation, nice lacing--really beautiful pour
Smell: roasted malt, sweet and dark chocolate
Taste: follows the nose with chocolaty notes
Mouthfeel: medium bodied, moderate carbonation, sweet with a solidly bitter backbone.
Overall: This is an above average to good porter. A smooth sipper but not one that blew me away. I would have this again but there are others I would get first.

Poured from a 22 oz bomber
Pours a deep dark brown with some reddish hues when held up to light. Tan creamy head which dissipated much too quickly for my liking.
Big chocolate aroma with roasted malts dominating the nose.
Expected more flavor and body up front. Much lighter than the look and smell would suggest. Chocolate from the nose really comes through in the end. Not too complex, very easy to drink.
Nothing remarkable here, a good porter, and I'd probably crack another bomber seeing that it's a smooth sipper. Think I may have been wanting something a bit heartier after shoveling a foot of snow in below zero wind chills though.

Very dark brown; shows red highlights when held to a light. A tight thin cream colored head leaving only trace amounts of lace.
Scent is very smoky, roasted and charred with bitter dark chocolate.
Taste follows the nose - strong roasted and slightly charred notes. Delightfully smoky. Touch of bitter dark chocolate. An almost tobacco like note. Light earthy hops. Cold strong coffee.
Mouth is a lightly carbonated medium.
A very good porter.

A - A very slight dark khaki colored head with almost zero retention that gives way to a lopsided yet mostly full lacing and a very thin collar... A decent bit of sluggish small bubbled carbonation is seen towards the bottom of the glass before it fades into the abyss... The color is a flat black that definitely lets a bit of light leak in around the edges...
S - Textbook American Porter here... Chocolate and cocoa... Lightly roasted malts... Some mild coffee... NOt bad, but a bit of a limited potency overall...
T - A rather subdued palette... The chocolate and cocoa are most prominent flavors but are still a bit muted overall... There is also some roasted malts... The coffee from the nose never materializes on the palette...
M - Medium bodied... A bit on the thin side of the equation... Briskly carbonation... Dense... Doesn't quite engulf the full mouth... Slightly chalky in texture...
D - A simple but rather unremarkable porter... Far from a drain pour, but not a brew that I would necessarily seek out again and certainly one not worth recommending...

A - Pours charcoal colored with a heavy brown foam. Minimal lacing.
S - Malty scent with notes of toffee and chocolate. Hearty aromsa.
T - Decent flavor of malt, and cocoa. Could use a bit more bite at the end; I found it a little thin.
M - Decent drinker, slightly watered down, but it is a good porter to have a few and feel like you ate a multi-course meal.
O - Decent porter, but not something I'd actively seek.

Poured from a 22oz bomber into a pint glass, the beer pours an almost black coloring with slight ruby highlights under the light. The beer has a massive, two and a half inch head that is dense, small bubbled, and a creamy consistency, tan coloring. Looks delicious. The nose is rich and enticing, with a slight background of coffee and a ton of milk chocolate sweetness. There are a lot more carbonation bubbles along the glass than you usually see with a Porter. The beer is light and crisp in mouth, and the carbonation keeps the flavors from becoming cloying or overpowering. The palate is a heavy dose of dark roasted coffee, with some dark, bitter chocolate and a light hopping to dry and clean up the flavors. No cling along the glass, which goes with the lighter body. The aftertaste was bitter, and slightly towards the mocha end of the taste spectrum. The finish is quick and slightly drying from all the bitter aspects. Very tasty brew. Lighter than my preferences, but very good nonetheless.

22 oz bomber.
Very thick look with shades of brown and black and a towering, cooling lava look. Slow dissipation, plenty of coverage.
Big, lush fruity sweetness, especially in the hops. Dark berries, chocolate pie, frothy mocha effect, vanilla cream, slightly spicey and smokey scented malt.
A very dry, snappy feel, earthy bitter hops, charred chocolate malt, nice hop bite but also creamy and lush foamy quoff. Interesting balance, big, dry earthy hops, very dark malt with very little sweetness.
The body and feel is a light medium feel, slightly thin but it goes down easy with slight smoothness at the end.
A mighty fine Porter.

Thanks to baconsausage for this relic from our first trade, one of two surviving bottles. Oops, make that one. Split up into a couple goblets for quick disposal.
Pours black, with heady chunks of flotsam & jetsam plunking into the darkness; we need to allow the solid masses to settle to the bottom before imbibing. Lovely smell of chocolate arises from surface of the brew along with moderate roast influence. Nice way to introduce oneself.
Moor Porter wraps a nicely charred body around a center of warm cocoa creaminess. Roasted coffee bitterness sets a crowbar in the sweet & wangles its way in, then pulls up a chair & runs all the way through to the finish. Sweet lactose mingles with the roast as it warms. Smooth as the old Silk Road. For a bigger porter on a day that topped or nicked ninety, this is going down quick & easy.
Very good porter. True, balanced, solid. What more do you want?

Bottle shared by Mark – much obliged!
Pours one shade from black with a tan head that leaves solid lacing.
Smells of heavily roasted malts with hints of semi-sweet chocolate and tobacco. Also present are very slight amounts of char.
Tastes similar to how it smells, though smoother. Robust roasted malts up front are joined quickly by smooth semi-sweet chocolate flavors. Midway through, the tobacco and hints of smokiness come into play, carrying through to a solidly bitter finish. Mouthfeel is good, with decent carbonation.
Overall I really enjoyed this beer, though I’m partial to dry examples of the style and those that lean toward the roasted end of the spectrum. Well worth a shot.

Fair if forgettable Porter
Presentation: 22 oz brown capped bottle. White paper label with Cisco Branding, seal with a red inset over wave lines. Side narrative goes over intent, and beer description. Served in a tulip glass.
A - Dark brown pour with ruby brown edges, fair frothy head with moderate retention, surface memory and lacing.
S - Soft roasted nose with a touch of chocolate, and coffee. Bitter burnt advance...
T - And indeed, a fair roasted profile, end with a bitter spent grain sourness… It is not terrible but not the best of notes. The roasted flow rescues it somewhat with some coffee and chocolate.
M - Medium body with medium carbonation, fairly smooth with a bitterness that does not completely do it.
O - It is not terrible but it is quite unremarkable and even for a soft Porter there is much better out there.
Notes: Been a while since I had something from Cisco… And it is probably going to be another while. The pricing is OK but the brew does not quite make it to a medium bracket of competition looking at the brews next to it, at least not on the porter front.

Poured a very nice deep dark brown with a huge billowing head of tan colored lace. It delicately faded leaving behind tremendous amounts of side glass lace. A very big looking porter,
full of roasted malts. A good amount of sugar was added o the mix, a nice warm aroma coming up through it and mixed in very nicely with a nice earthy grain like smell. Some hops were present in there somewhere, and a touch of a smoked aroma was capping it off very nicely. roasted caramel mixed in with somewhat of a smoked flavor. Very nicely done and just the right amount of sweetness to accent it perfectly. Very deep roasted malts and a good earthy kind of flavor then enveloped the middle, giving hints of grains and of a slight grassiness.
A little fuller in feel then your normal porter, but not filling at all. This had really great carbonation up until the last drop and really a great smooth, consistent feel.

Poured a 2" light mocha colored head. Body is a warm burnt umber brown in color. Smell is very much a chocolate malt with little or no hoppiness or even coffee hints to it. Taste is even more like chocolate malt, but on the dark chocolate side, and does have some bitterness I presume from hops. Really this is a delightful porter, one of the more chocolatey examples out there without actually adding chocolate to it. A quality product at an affordable price.

A - very dark brown almost black, thin head which dissipates a bit.
S - coffee, roast malt, caramel
T - I get coffee, and thick roasted malt with a bit of a caramel at the end.
M - a nice thin beer, tingles a bit at the finish with hops and carbonation. full flavored without getting sticky.

Pours a viscous black with brown tints and a dark khaki firm head.
Nose smells like the black seaweed wrap on sushi. Not bad, just very different; an almost "toasty" sesame seed character.
Mouth is thin and watery. Flavors are thin and watery.
Flavor profile is a very light roasted coffee. Front flavors of toasy seaweed wrapper and a light biscuit character. Flavor profile is unlike any porter I've tried.
Simple with a finish that is a light bitter seaweed, coffee, roasted grain. Unique but more like a light coffee and likely would not try again or drink. Too simple and too one dimensional and thin.

Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into my Duvel tulip. Received in the birthday BIF from ShogoKawada; thanks Phil.
a - Pours a dark brown, almost black color, with one finger of tan head and moderate carbonation evident. Light lacing on the glass and an inch of head throughout drinking it.
s - Smells of chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, vanilla, cocoa, and light dark fruit. Lots of chocolate and roastiness up front; smells great. The chocolate and fruit are sweet which I like.
t - Tastes of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, vanilla, and dark fruits. The chocolate and coffee and both a bit bitter, compared to the sweetness that was in the smell.
m - Medium to full body, more on the full side. Moderate carbonation, thick and chewy. Could have used a little less carbonation, but still a good mouthfeel.
d - Overall I thought this was a pretty good porter from Cisco. I liked the smell better than the taste, as the smell was sweeter and the taste was more bitter. Didn't have a problem finishing the bomber myself, and would have this one again.

Poured from a Bomber into a Perfect Pint glass.
A: The deep garnet color is just a few shades West of black. A small and soapy nougat head quickly falls to a patchy island of foam. Leaves intermittent spots of lace.
S: Molasses sticks out as the predominant aroma. Licorice and smoke are behind it. As the beer warms, a hint of grass comes through. A light coffee acidity rounds things out.
T: The molasses, licorice and smoke from the nose are front and center. A balancing burnt bitterness borders on acidic. Charcoal flavors come on late. Alcohol adds just a touch of warmth.
M: The medium body could stand having the carbonation turned down by a lot.
D: The carbonation got in the way of what should be a nice bevy of flavors. I'm glad I picked this one up, but it really needs less fizz.
