From the bottle: This golden ale was originally formulated 2009, for Fomaggio Kitchen. The recipe is a collaboration between the brewers at Cisco and the chefs at Formaggio Kitchen using grapefruit, orange zest, chamomile, and plenty of wheat. This beer is brewed with passion and patience letting the citrus slowly infuse in the kettle before bottling. We hope you enjoy this ale brewed exclusively for Formaggio Kitchen.
Picked up at the Formaggio in the South End, Boston for $6.95.
A: Pours a hazy light yellow/straw color with a 1.5 finger white head, very foamy. Nice head retention with spotty lacing down the sides
S: Extremely zesty! Some grapefruit and the white rind part of the grapefruit. Some lemon comes through and a bit of a floral component as well as some wheat.
T: The lemon comes out right away with some grapefruit and other citrus fruits. There is a nice amount of zest, but not as pronounced as the aroma, as well as a bit of a floral component, likely from the chamomile. A nice wheaty component with a bit of grainy malt, but it is a bit subtle compared to the fruit presence.
M: Light bodied with medium carbonation.
O: Extremely easy drinking. Was surprised at how fruity this witbier is. If I lived closer to the store I would go back and grab some more.
