A - Tan foam settles to wisps, thin collar, and minimal lacing. Dark brown, opaque, near-black body.

S - Vanilla, hot bourbon, spicy oak, roast, anise, and dark breads. Very low sweetness, and some serious alcohol heat.

T - The taste thankfully isn't as boozy, with nice notes of dark chocolate, vanilla, roasted malts, oak, and whiskey. I actually enjoyed the flavor quite a bit, as the vanilla from the barrel-aging balances some of the harsher bitterness I noticed in the base beer.

M - Chewy, medium-full body, roasty and dry texture, and lower carbonation. Some definite alcohol warmth, but not as rough as the aroma.

D - Once you get past the harsh alcohol in the aroma this is actually quite nice. It's quite a bit different from the usual 3 Floyds barrel-aged offerings; I'm really curious what barrel was used here. Best enjoyed in small quantities, but may improve with 6-12 months in the bottle.
