on tap at the brewpub on more than one occasion.

this is why i started loving beer, rather than liking it. the first sip is just WOW! and you want more, FFF really hit a cult classic with this brew.

A: light is color with a white head.

S: HOPS, HOPS, HOPS, citrus, grapefruit, any fruit you can imagine into this beer is there.

T: HOPS, fruit, malts, and more HOPS.

M: fizzy but not like a $5 6-pack, like a very good pale ale.

O: would drink this again, and again, and again, and again, and again.. if you get the chance to order this on tap or if a friend offers you a 12oz bottle, don't turn it down!

cheers!

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a Grey Sail pint glass.

Appearance- Hazy copper/orange color. Light white head with moderate lacing.

Smell- Incredible. Sweet fruits, floral hops, and light earthy/herbaceous notes.

Taste- Supremely well balanced. The malt character plays with the hop bitterness perfectly. Grapefruit, orange rind flavors.

Mouthfeel- So smooth and not overly carbonated at all. Slightly resinous, but pretty light in body

Overall- I could drink this all day.

Appearance: Pours a semi-hazy glowing golden orange with three fingers of rocky cream colored foam.

Smell: Big juicy tropical fruit comes wafting out of the bottle. A pungent medley of pineapple, guava, mango, tangerine, and orange marmalade. There's also a touch of honey, a hint of peppery spice, some light floral notes and faint strawberry. I could smell this perfectly fine standing a good two feet from the glass. Easily one of the top 3 best smelling beers I've ever had.

Taste: Pulpy grapefruit, tangerine, sticky pine sap, and raw honey with a lightly toasted, nutty finish. Incredibly smooth with a nice hop bite.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied and well carbonated with a slick mouthfeel from the abundant hop oils. Crisp and tingly on the tongue with a semi-dry finish.

Overall, its easy to see why this wicked pale ale is always in such high demand. Currently at #7 in Beeradvocate's Top 250 Beers, this is truly a marvel. A big, bold, flavorful pale ale gushing with pungent fruity hops. It manages to be complex yet extremely smooth and well-balanced. There's really nothing I would change about this beer. It may technically be labeled an American pale ale, but for me it is the quintessential IPA. It also has one of the best names and label art of any craft beer out there. A beauty to behold.

Its without a doubt one of the best beers I've ever had the pleasure of drinking! I stop by the The Floyds Brewery every time I get a chance. If your lucky they might have some for sale. They limit how much you can buy so I'll usually get as much as they'll let me. Its great out of a bottle but its even better on tap.

Oh, I seriously love Zombie Dust. It became my new favorite addiction in the short window of time where I was able to enjoy it.

I had it on tap, cask and in the bottle.

I was able to do a side-by-side tap vs. cask comparison. Below are my findings of this highly scientific research:

Zombie dust on bottle

While I couldn’t get a growler of Zombie Dust to go I did score a sixer of this wonderful elixir.
It pours with a golden amber color and great foam. There’s a big bouquet on it of tropical fruit, pineapple and a lemony citrusy hop. The flavor is hoppy without being overpoweringly bitter with a crisp orange-lemony and pineapple floral notes coming across. Lightly bodied, this is all about the flavorful and aromatic hops. Loved it.

Zombie Dust on tap and in cask: a side-by-side comparison.

Tap: This has tight foam atop a clear golden tan color brew. The aroma is intensely hoppy and crisp with an amazing tropical citrusy hop aroma and a light note of toasted straw on the finish. There’s an upfront bitterness with some resin on it. Floral and citrusy with a hint of caramel sweetness and a dry finish.

Cask: It pours an amber-golden color with gloppy, sloppy bubbly foam. The aroma and flavor are both smooth, mellow, even. Warms well with citrusy notes prevalent with a great rounded smoothness. There’s an orange citrusy aroma, more mellow than tap but equally enjoyable. The flavor is likewise rounded and softened, with a smooth resiny/orange/orange peel and marmalade character to it.

Whether on tap or from the cask it is dangerously good and lives up to everything I’ve heard.

I am coming back now to write a quick blurb on this beer. I have had it on tap at 3F's and it was amazing, but I hadnt had a chance to sit down at home, pour my own, and really think about it...

A great friend from IL just sent me a fresh 12 pack of these beauties and I sat down to properly enjoy one poured into my 3F's Teku. THIS BEER IS AMAZING! I thought maybe I had built it up in my head based on other reviews and the excitement I had to drink more, but that is NOT the case. This is the perfect beer. Litterally. If I could rated this at a 10 I would.

This beer is everything that I want from an IPA (I know, its an APA), you can sip it slowly, you can session it, you can live on it. I would drink this every day if it was possible. Seek out this beer and savor every sip.

I had known of Three Floyds for awhile, but one day an over-excited beer clerk gave me a six pack from his secret stash. I never looked back.

Appearance-
Sharp orange, and depending how served a surprisingly foamy head.

Smell-
The standard to which citra hops should be held, a showcase of clean tropical fruits, citrus fruits, and a smidgeon of bubblegum.

Taste-
Follows the smell, but the hops have a bitter back. Like a good pale ale, the malt is still present.

Mouthfeel-
The hop oils give a good feel, but it remains refreshingly crisp.

Overall-
The hype is factored into this rating, but the hype followed a fantastic beer. It is drinkable in all occasions.

I have heard a ton of hype for this one, but is it justified?

Pours out a beautiful golden orange with a 2 finger, white head.

The aroma is intense! There is a ton of an orange, orange peel type of note right away followed by grapefruit, some pine and sweeter tropical fruits.

The taste is exactly like the aroma. There is a huge amount of sweeter orange, a decent amount of grapefruit, sweeter tropical fruits like mango and apricot, some pine and just a hint of some bready malt at the end.

The body is medium and the mouthfeel is crisp. It's a very easy drinking beer with a decent amount of bitterness for an APA. This drinks more like an IPA than a Pale Ale!

I can actually see what all the hype is about and I'm glad I got to try it. No, it's not a perfect beer, but it's the best Pale Ale I have ever tried! Believe the hype. Another winner from Three Floyds.

Tried this for the first time at Craft Beer Fest in Bloomington, IN last weekend. Got the last serving they had. Was a wonderful beer. The color and aroma drew me to this beer. Am now a fan of 3 Floyd's Brewery. Heard this is a hard beer to find and have found that to be very true.

This is one of the best(if not the best) Pale ales out there. One of my personal favorites as well. Three Floyd's does no wrong. It's so flavorful and refreshing. Tons of grapefruit in taste. I would consider Zombie Dust an IPA, and would put it up there alongside Pliny and Heady.

Being so close to Three Floyd's I've had the pleasure of having this on tap as well as very fresh bottles.

This is a brew that I love when fresh. I don't think any brew can beat it. So many tropical fruit notes in the taste and smell. I love it!

Now on the flip side: if this beer sits for a couple of weeks it becomes average. Over a month it's almost a drain pour. All in all, if you can get this fresh,by all means get it. You will dig it!

No other APA like it out there . Ordered on draft at Sonka's pub in Terre Haute, IN. I heard from a few different sources though, that this beer has been completely sold out in TH and the brewery ran out of ZB ingredients for the year. I guess I'll have to wait til next year :( FFF does it again with a top quality beer. Cheers!

A: Bright, orange yellow with moderate head, and some nice lacing. Served in a tulip glass.

S: Hops! Citrus, floral, herbal, and slight pine.

T: Dancing on the tongue, vivid, sharp, bright citrus, and floral/herbal notes, with a great feel in the nose when exhaling...

M: smooth, clean, well carbonated.

O: not available in GA, glad I found a friend that allowed me to share this with them! One of the best beers I have had lately.

Much love to cstromberg57 for providing me with my very first FFF offering. Poured into a pint glass. No readable freshness date.

A- Pours a medium amber color with a 1/2 inch of white head. Plenty of lacing as the head unwinds to a 1/8 inch ring around the edge of the glass and spotty surface foam.

S- Sweet, fruity, yet pungently grassy hop aroma AND cereal grain sweetness in the tail-end. Also known as having your cake and eating it too.

T- Intensely grassy hops smack down on the palate and cause tingles of bitter to spread out across the tongue. Definitely a powerful taste but has that restrained quality that other stellar IPAs have in common (Two-hearted to name one). As sweet as it is hoppy with the just-right amount of malt presence holding everything in place. Notes of pineapple and grapefruit.

M- Prickly and active with medium carbonation. Also quite full in body and wetness.

O- Now I see what all the hype's about. One of my new Top 5 IPAs for sure. Definitely cannot improve anymore.

Fresh bottle, 2 weeks from capping.

This beer has an amazing piney, citrus, skunk aroma. It smells like fresh hops.

The mouthfeel is medium and perfect.

The flavor is that of the quintessential pale ale. This beer is the new gold standard. A perfect citric bite mixes with a slightly sweet malt. The beer continues to coat your tongue and the hops literally dance on your tastebuds. The alcohol is invisible and it is dangerously refreshing.

I'm the first to admit that I am a three floyds junkie but this is without a doubt the best beer I have ever had. 10/10

one of my bottles courtesy of Mista - thank you, kind sir.

a - pours a golden yellow with a nice, large 2-finger head. while it settles to a fine lace, it does so rather quickly - i would much like to stare at it longer...

s - holy hell. it's been quite some time since an aroma instantly pervaded the vicinity from the moment i opened the bottle. huge grapefruit, orange, pine tree aroma. massive. i want to smell this all day.

t - follows aroma. a perfect balance of nectar/bread sweetness, which when incorporated with the hops gives me the sensation of cold, juicy citrus fruit. it goes together so well.

m - thin enough to be quenching, yet thick enough to assert its substance.

o - i expected to be let down by this; after all, the hype surrounding this brew is massive. that being said, i believe this is the best beer i have EVER had - and i'm not saying this as some FFF fanboy, honestly i don't care much for their other beers. i want to drink this for the rest of my life (ok, not really, i do like my variety). i only hope i can enjoy other pale ales after having such an epic creation from FFF.

this is why i drink beer.

So this is like my 20th bottle, and that tells you something, because i rarely drink 20 of something.

Visually this is about perfect, healthy head, lacing, translucent body, lively orange color.
The aroma slays me, tropical fruits unlike any other APA, huge amounts of mandarin orange, floral esters, wonderful.
The flavors are clean and refreshing, unhindered by malt inconveniences. Tropical, and papaya speaks out to me, clementines and mandarins, bitterness with a touch of fruity sweetness to keep it from being harsh.

Just got back from a quick 35 mile ride, and this is hitting every spot i have. Best APA there is. (daisy cutter is 2nd btw)

Nose up front of pineapple and orange zest. The taste is citrusy sweet with tangerines fading into lemon and finishing with slightly grapefruit notes. This is without a doubt the best pale ale I've ever had. For me pales are usually too mellow and bland but this guy could stack up to any IPA just without the bitter bite.

Appearance: It has a nice golden/orange color to it. It has a nice white head that dies down moderately and leaves very nice lacing.

Smell: WOW! The aromas give out hints of citrus, mango, pineapple, grapefruit and more! It's a tropical hop explosion!

Taste: Like the aromas, it's all hops. Mango, pineapple, citrus, grapefruit all blend together with some light caramel on the back. Amazing!

Mouthfeel: It has a medium carbonation with a great overall balance and feel. Nice bitterness for an APA.

Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied with great flavors and aromas. Best APA i've ever had and best beer!

I have been saving myself to write my first review until I tried this beer. It has taken 5 years, but I finally have gotten my hands on this marvelous brew.

Poured from a bottle into an imperial pint glass.

A: Pours a light amber color, not quite the right color for a pale ale, so this is my only knock on this beer. A one finger head dissipates as you drink it, but it leaves a little tracing on the glass

S: Grapefruit, hops, spice, and floral. Beautiful combination of beta acid hops stand out. As it warms, a slight sweetness takes over.

T: Juicy, the label had it right! There is a beautiful balance of malt and hops, slight herb, citrus, a bit of bread/yeast comes through as well. Slight bitterness as it finishes, but not a palate wrecker. Very crisp and refreshing.

M: Mild carbonation, coats your mouth, but doesn't linger like more hoppy beers.

O: This is my favorite new brew. I had read great things about this beer for 5 years, and have been waiting patiently to get my hands on it. Anytime anyone wants to trade this beer to me, I will not turn it down. What a great combination of hops and grain! I continue to be amazed as I drink this beer.

Had it on tap at the Brew pub in Munster. Pours a nice amber color with a two finger head. Nice lacing that seems to linger. Smells like a hop lovers dream. Taste is a fantastic hoppy flavor that finishes like no other. Mouthfeel is a medium balance of thickness. My first thought was wow, now I get it. A world class beer for a reason. Seek it out my beer loving friends.

Oh my gosh. One of the most flavorful beers with ease of drinking. This is one of the best beers I have ever had. But then everything I have had from Three Floyds has been awesome. Worth the hype. Beautiful color. Incredible smell, hops and malt and hops and malt. Just an incredible nose. It tastes like liquid gold and the gold coats your tongue with so many complex flavors. This is a top american beer. Three Floyds is incredible and Zombie Dust... fantatstic.
