Had on tap at FFF over holidays. Poured to a dark cocoa brown, withtan head that disipated fairly quickly and left okay lacing. Although nose was a pleasant chocolate-caramel mix, the body was very thin and watery, and the taste a little too much on the sweet side. In the end, I felt like I was drinking a cold, watered down Swiss Miss. Not one of FFF's best.

On tap at Brixies in Brookfield IL
Poured into a 16oz. FFF imperial shaped pint glass
It poured a nice clear dark brown with a frothy mocha head
The nose was a nice subtle chocolate tone. Not really a whole lot going on in the nose.
The taste was pretty grainy to me. More roasted grain than a nice coffee chocolate taste. At the end I was picking up a little fruity esters which seemed out of place.
The body was pretty light, adequate carbonation to make for a nice light flavored drinkable dark lager

Had this on draft at Sheffields in Chicago, it looks and smells like a Dunkelweisen which I thought it was. Roasty dark body, chocolate nose and malt. Taste is the same, but finished a bit sweet for me, could have been the result of having a Hopslam before this. Good lager mouthfeel, rather light and easy drinking. I could see this being a year round success, but I suspect it will never be bottled, oh well keep trying your hand and these different styles. I particularly love the Ham on Rye....

Pours a deep ruby color with one and a half fingers of smooth off white head.
Scent of chocolate, chalky malts, yeast, and a hint of clove. Balanced well, and it seems to be brewed to style, rather than over-hopped.
Taste of chocolate, oats, yeast, caramel and some clove. A good beer to drink half a liter of at a time. It's nice to know that Three Floyds can brew to style and not hop the shit out of everything. Get some of this while you still can if you are a fan of lagers.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a light smooth carbonation. A little heavy for a lager, though I still found it pleasant.

On-tap @ FFF's and poured into a large mug/stein.
A - Pours a dark caramel brown with a tannish head.
S - Burnt malts, semi-sweetness.
T - Chocolate, malts, burnt caramels.
M - Light bodied, smooth, medium carbonation.
D - Easy to drink and I've had it several times at the BrewPub.

Got this at the brewery last night. Quite nice. They serve it in an Oktoberfest style pint mug. The color is very dark brown with a creamy off white head. Left some lacing. The smell is very pleasant too, lots of strong malt. There's a very nice chocolate aftertaste that would make this a good finishing beer. I had this after a Ham on Rye (just re-released on a special tapping 11/25/09, go get one!) and followed it with an Alpha Klaus. It's the next morning right now and my brain is still swimming.

On tap at Brixies, served generously and at the correct temperature. I thought this was a fabulous example of a dunkel. Layers of toast, dark bread, toasted grain, malt and molasses, but without the cloying sweetness that often accompanies this style. Bonus: not retchingly over-hopped like most Three Floyd's beers. A well-balanced, highly drinkable brew. Bonus points for using an esstet character (it's pronounced like "ss").
