During my recent move to bumfuck NY, I stopped by the 3 Floyds brewery and the boys loaded my truck full of provisions to last the cold winter NY nights. This wonderful little beer among them.

This is like the Paris Hilton of beer. Blonde, rich, and you can't help but want some more. Such a little carbonated whore.

A bright golden blonde with a brilliant white head that is disappears quickly.

Nobles hops and grapenuts.

Dry and crisp. I've gone throught about a case of this and still can't get enough.

My wife likes this. That says something about this beer.

22 oz bottle into a mug. Purchased this one at thh brewery back in August.

Pours an unfiltered looking hazy gold, with 2 1/2 fingers of foamy brite-white head. Retains with a thin, yet frothy look, leaving some good looking swathes of patchy lacing back. The aroma sits in the nose with a bit of a heavier feel, featuring notes of buttered toast and eggy smelling biscuits. Floral and spicy Noble hops are present, playing second fiddle for the most part to the malts, yet still making it's presence known.

The earthy hops are much more assertive in the taste, with a peppery sharpness and aggressive dryness to it. Bready sweetness and a touch of fruity citrus come out towards the back of the swallow with a toasty flush, but this is profile is all about that bitter drying feel that absolutely sucks any moisture out of the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied (this feels like it could be on the higher end of the ABV style range), with a sharp crispness to it which matches that biting hop profile. This thins out a bit towards the backend of each sip, allowing for maximum flow and drinkibility. Great even feel here in the mouth.

Crisp, tasty, and thirst quenching, this was a well made take on the style and I had no problem killing this bomber. Hey, sometimes it's nice to just enjoy a "normal" beer from these guys once in a while.

Stopped by the brewpub on a boring Saturday night and picked this one up.

22oz bomber into a pint glass.

A: I'd argue that this is probably the lightest beer, in terms of color, that Three Floyds has ever produced. Pours out a crystal clear deep golden straw with light peachy highlights, head is light and frothy two inches thick after the initial pour which settles into a quarter inch cap for the remainder of the review.

S: Noble hop aroma? From Three Floyds? Am I dreaming? As unbelievable as it sounds the distinct herbal/floral softness greets the nose and mixes with a touch of honey sweetness and a crispy, light bready crustiness. Plays to the hallmarks of the style quite well.

T/MF: Feel is a palate pleasing crispness, light and tight on the tongue which makes for quite an easy sipper. Tastes like a love letter to the style, all the hallmarks are here much like in the aroma. Opens with a touch of honey sweetness balanced with touches of pepper and grassyness (if such a thing can be said to exist) and finishes with an almost crackery kind of dryness that compels you to go back again for another sip.

D: This one disappeared on me a little too quickly, it's remarkable how consistently this beer reminded me of Great Lakes version of the same. This beer is, dare is say such a thing, normal. And it's not a bad thing either, as it turns out to be a well constructed beer, just not one of the most popular styles is all.

Acquired via trade...thanks Josh for picking up this brewery only release. 22 ounce bottle poured into a SA perfect pint glass. No abv or bottling info is given. Cool artwork on the front that reminds me of the cover of Turbonegro's Apocalypse Dudes.

A-Pours a semi-hazy straw yellow. It has a fairly scant offwhite head. Some visible bubbles can be seen breaking the top. Not the best looking pils; I found it to be a tad too hazy and the head too small.

S-Lots of noble hops when cracked and they stand oput throughout the session. There is also some biscuity malt that is noticeable. As it warms it takes on a citurus/lemon aroma.

T-The noble hops that were so evident in the nose are quite present. It has a tad bit of a musty flavor at first that goes away. The lemon in the nose is detected in the back of my mouth. There is a slight level of bitterness in between sips. As it warms the malt brings out more sweetness in the beer. This is one that is best served at a cooler temperature.

M-Medium bodied with crisp carbonation. I found it to be dry upfront, sweet in the middle, and finishing with a nice crisp bite. The sweetness lingers in between sips.

D-I found it to be a tad too sweet, but it was still an easy drinker. Dare I say it is a lawnmower beer from 3F?

Glad I got to try this one. I found it to be an easy sipping beer that is a nice change from their bigger beers. This would be a good keg beer for a gathering of friends.

clear gold with a nice, thick, persistent white head and lacing. biscuity, doughy malts and grassy hops in the aroma. cracker-like lightly sweet malts are well balanced by the smooth hop bitterness. light bodied with a frothy mouthfeel and crisp finish. a good example of the style and quite drinkable as a sessionable lager.

Got from ummagum after his brewery tour in early July. Poured from a 22oz bottle into a pint glass. No dating info but was just released in June so fresh. It was a hazy golden yellow color. Good carb streams and a little bit of quick sliding lace. It had an average sized off-white head that dissipated into a thin collar and some wisps in center.

The aroma was crisp with mainly noble hops and a little bit of caramel malt. Good aroma especially for lager which usually doesn't do much for me. The taste followed the aroma. Nice and crisp with good hop feel and spice. This style will never hit the top of the ratings for me but this one is the best I've had in it. Very refreshing and goes down easy while still giving a good touch of flavor.

Overall, a surprisingly good beer for me since I generally don't really find much flavor in this style. 3F's did it right and nailed the aroma and flavor. Highly recommend.

Rotation: not available here. Not sure if one-off brew or not. If it was here, it would be worth a bomber or two (no six pack option) in the summer.

Bottle thanks to FlssmrBrewAlum. Pours a clear golden orange with a small white head. Aroma of wheat, grass, and a touch of cardboard. Flavor is better--sweet fruits initially with a wheaty, lager malt finish. Very pleasant and super drinkable on a warm summer's night.

Poured from 22oz bottle I bought at the brewery.

A- Pours a slight hazy golden amber color. Nice 2 finger fluffy white head dies down after a couple of minutes. No real lacing to speak of. Little bits here and there just slide down the glass and into the beer. Average looking beer...kind of sorry to say.

S- The nose of this beer is grainy and earthy at best. Light earthy (grassy) hops which cover up the toasted grain and balance it out. Very tame nose for a FFF beer. Not bad smelling but expected a little more of a twist with this brewery.

T- Very faint tasting beer. And I don't mean it in a bad way. I was more suprised with the hops since they seemed to come through more in taste than smell just not over the top. The malt in this also jumps out at you a little more than the hops leaving a slight sweetness to this beer. In my opinion this makes the beer to me seem a little more heavy than what it actually is.

M- Light mouthfeel. The carbonation level in this beer seemed about right for the style. Left more of a earthy taste in the mouth after a sip. I found this to be fairly nice and made me go back for more.

D- I expected more from this beer but I think their goal was to make something that would be more mass friendly. I have had a lot worse beers than this and to be honest I could drink this over and over if I had some. It's a nice beer to drink when you don't want to wreck your taste buds and want a easy drinker.

A long day of disc golf, walking in the door. What? Ho! What's this? A many-eyed snake upon the doorstep? Orange, cloudy, with no head, just the many eyes. Jinxproof, you say? Wherefore?
A warm biscuit assaults the nostrils with feathery grace. Clean, wistful, a light, airy aroma, field-like, but not particularly grassy. The thing slides along the floor towards me. Get out of my house! Noble, almost hay-like in the nose, more like browned grass than green. On to the flavour... there's the light graininess, a faint bitter and the hay, and a bready malt note that turns to rather a bitter finish. Longs at you for another sip. Come again? Hanging upon the window-sill? I'll chase that rascal out yet!
And light, airy, just the faintest lingering pucker, as it were, and dry. (How's that he said? A flip dark chill winter bastard though dry?) And a medium-high prickling feeling, as it were on the tongue... but my, could one drink this all night.
I'll chase that rascal out, you mark my words! I shan't have any of those many-headed type blokes rifling about my corridors!

Served in a pint glass at just below cellar temperature from a 22oz bomber, freshly purchased from the brewery.

A - Vibrant gold with a nice, off-white head that lasts a minute or two before diminishing to a fairly cohesive mat. Lacing is sparse.

S - Crisp and hoppy, with an herbal-floral character. Some slight metallics. Unassuming and mellow.

D - Bready sweetness on the way in - think Irish Soda Bread. Only a brief spattering of bitterness that transitions seamlessly to a nice crisp and dry swallow.

M - Very nice. Crisp and refreshing - works very well for the summertime. Light tingle and a frothy wash.

D - Excellent for the style, shining in both flavor and refreshment areas. A very good FFF offering that *doesn't* rely on on the overuse of Amarillo.

22oz bomber courtesy of dug, poured into a pint glass.

Pours a light, clear golden amber with a small bubbly white head that recedes to a small collar pretty quickly and leaves no lacing.

The aroma is fairly tame with some toasted grains, corn syrup and some light grassy hops.

The taste is slightly sweeter than the aroma with a sweet bsicuity malt and grain backbone. There is a light spicy hop presence with a bit of grassy notes as well. The finish is more sweet and less dry than I was expecting, certainly for a pils/dortmunder

The mouthfeel is heavier than I would like for this particular style and not nearly as refreshing and lively.

This is a decent beer from FFF, but their twists on this one took away from the drinkability and didn't add much in the way of complexity or depth. That said, a mediocre beer from FFF is better than most things out there.

poured yellow that was slightly tinted hazy dark. light white head with good retention. little lacing.

not much off the nose, mostly sweet caramel and slight earthy hops.

flavor was much lighter than i expected. the noble hops were quite faint with the malts being dominant although by dominant i mean they were sort of faint as well, just not as much as the hops.

light carbonation and quite refreshing actually. this tasted better with a little chill on it still.

overall i enjoyed this and would have given the drinkability a 5.0 if this was not a $12 beer. $6 would be a far better deal, $12 is way too expensive. taste wise, i loved this and it was the perfect 4th of july lets light of fireworks beer. sure, it may not be 100% brewed to be a dortmunder or pilsner but thats what we do in america, tweak everything. happy 4th!

Pours a hazy gold color with a very short head and good lacing,

Scent of malts, grain, sugar, honey and hops. Not too impressive, but good nonetheless

Taste of grain, weak malts, honey, faint hops, and a hint of orange peel. It's inoffensive, and that is pretty much all I can say about it.

Mouthfeel is light and clean with strong carbonation.

Arrives medium yellow in a pint glass at the FFF brewpub with only enough head to let you know they didn't forget to carbonate it. Aroma says they looked east rather than west for most of the hops, definitely Saaz with a bit of a kick, perhaps their kettle is permanently infused with Amarillo. The flavor is a pretty straight reading of a Czech pilsner. A very serviceable and well-executed effort, but I sat and waited to find out what FFF had done to twist this style, but was only left with a little heavier body than a traditional plis. Overall a respectable effort, but a surprisingly normal take on a classic style for a brewery with the slogan "its not normal."

Dortmunder? 3F's claims it's a pils and the aroma has me thinking Czech was the aim. Here we go:

Couldn't be less impressed with the appearance. Zero head and fizzy bubbles feed upward. The body is too orange to resemble either the Bohemian or Bavarian takes on the style.

Aroma betrays the floral Saaz hops but there's something else along for the ride; smells like the Floyds' Amarillo fetish found its way into this one...

...Yup. Grapefruit is a weird addition to the classic noble hops. Not a disaster, per se, but not what I hope for in my favorite style of lager. Malt body is sufficient but doesn't do enough to highlight the profile of the hops.

Decent, spritzy mouthfeel but just not light enough for my taste. An easy-to-drink beer, but there are better options for this style. Easily the least impressive beer to come out of Munster.

Pours thinly veiled pale gold with a stubborn head that leaves ribbons of lace all the way down the glass. Smell is fresh bread with slight whiffs of lemon zest and grassy notes. Mouthfeel is a bit creamy for the style but there's enough carbonation there to keep this on the refreshing side. The flavors are very well balanced: the sweet breadiness blends seemslesly with the earthy hop bitterness. No one flavor speaks out of turn. Not quite as crisp a finish as I was expecting, but overall this is a very nice journey into the lager world for this ale powerhouse.

I am just a beer-adding machine today, I guess. From the website:

Pours soapy, dark gold. Filtered and glistening with a small white head.

Smells deep and bitter, like a good dortmunder--weeds, thick caramel malt, sweeter hops. Bontanical and planty, a little bit, kind like a keller mixed with a dortmunder...

Flavor is the same as the nose, but more intense. Starts ouf with fabulous pilsener complexities, roundly dry and bitter. Ends with a sweet balance from a finish which is like walking through a hayfield at dawn.
